In any other circumstance today's real wedding is special, but take into consideration that it was planned in just four months and it really is phenomenal. Incorporating their own unique taste, almost too good to be true blooms and two ethereally beautiful locations Ruxandra and Lucian created a perfect alternative fairytale wedding. Rares Ion Wedding Photography were on hand to capture each moment and we are so thrilled to share this dreamy celebration with you today.
A perfectly matched pair, Ruxandra and Lucian met aged just 17 while on a 27 hour train journey to Prague. Ruxandra remembers..."Even though we kind of already knew from the beginning that we were perfect for each other, we remained just good friends for about four years."
Once they were an official item Ruxandra and Lucian knew they wanted to be together forever, but at the same time didn't want a traditional wedding celebration. Ruxandra told us..."There was nothing in the words of bride, groom, nor wedding that seemed to appeal to us. We were amused by traditional weddings, at least in our country, which seemed to all fit within the same unreasonable pattern. After 5 years of being together, we knew we wanted to become a family and to celebrate it with our close ones, but somehow neither the traditional pear shape diamond ring, nor the change of status on Facebook represented us. Lucian still managed to surprise me when he offered me a simple yet wonderful infinity shaped ring, which he found in a French shop, and asked me if I would like to spend my whole life with him. We sat beneath the most beautiful Karl Storck statue in Bucharest and enjoyed the moment just by ourselves. Our family and friends found out we were engaged only after we already set the date and chose the venue and church. And by the way, the wedding was in less than 4 months."
Taking planning into their own hands Ruxandra and Lucian constructed a serene alternative fairytale wedding complete with a church blessing in the stunning Domni?a B?la?a Orthodox Cathedral.
A beautiful alternative bride Ruxandra chose to wear an off-white tulle gown with sheer long sleeves, accessorised with a magical peonie bouquet and veil - which was replaced with a large flower crown after the ceremony.
As the sun began to set Ruxandra and Lucian's wedding party began at the 18th century Mogo?oaia Palace. Keeping things chic, yet distinctly on-trend, the venue was decorated with umbrellas and flower bottles hanging from the trees, a tasty pie bar, sparklers and lights, blankets on the grass, childhood photographs forming a literal family tree, a photo cabin, books and pots with Ruxandra's grandma’s favourite flowers to give out as wedding favours.
Matching the bouquets and Ruxandra's flower crown the reception space was filled with aromatic peonies, linden flowers and jasmine - all organised by a close friend.
Tying all the elements together was a simple monochrome colour scheme, which worked perfectly to ensure nothing seemed overtly over the top. As Ruxandra told us..."We had no distinctive theme, but we put lots of effort into planning every element of our black and white decorations, a colour scheme that we chose as we wanted to keep it neutral and simple, as the beauty of the place was simply not necessary to enrich."
Super pretty...
Want to have your own fairytale wedding? Ruxandra & Lucian have some advice..."Even if it may sound selfish, we think that it's desirable to include as few people as possible in first stages of planning the best day of your life. Trying to be nice and listening to advice from everyone can be consuming and lead to clashes of opinions, which would be nasty to resolve. You get a second chance afterwards and you could involve the others when it comes to implementing all your own awesome ideas. It's really important to have a wedding that reflects your personality and try to share with everyone the "one of a kind" parts that define you."
A huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all! A big thank you also goes to Rares Ion Wedding Photography for sharing their work with us. To see more from Rares Ion Wedding Photography visit www.raresion.com
