This is a real wedding and a celebration of love that is undoubtedly going to leave you with a heart full of love and topped with endless inspiration. The charming Kilshane House wedding of Siobhan and Roger proves how bending traditions and moulding a day to suit you, can create a kind of magic that you and your guests will really feel! They chose the first look over a first dance and ditched the formal speeches to make more time to spend personally with family and friends. Studio Brown, who never fails to deliver on beautiful shots, captured every floral, laugh, precious moment. Without further a do, let's take a look!
Siobhan and Roger, met on a night out in Limerick, after she made the move to Clare from Dublin! Her colleague suggested taking her out so she could meet some new faces. Not only did she meet a friend for life that night, but the love of her life. "Luckily for Roger, I took the task very seriously and introduced myself to him. We spent the rest of the night debating over GAA and how hurling is much better than football. We went out for dinner a couple of nights later!" she says.
While Siobhan made the first move, it was now time for Roger to make the last move as a boyfriend and the first as a fiancé. Siobhan recalls the very special moment: "Roger proposed to me one Friday night while we were eating pizza and drinking wine on the couch at home. To say I was surprised was an understatement and once I stopped screaming I said one big 'Yes'! It was a lovely moment with just the two of us, in the middle of lockdown number three. I think he thought that since we got through that, the next 60 years would be a walk in the park. We had a Haribo ring initially which we upgraded once lockdown eased, but the Haribo ring lives on in a frame!"
Siobhan looked breathtaking in the chic silhouette of her Enzoani gown. The sweetheart neckline was embroidered with sequin detail that dissolved into a silky floor-length satin skirt. A beautiful moment came later when her mother walked her down the aisle.
The couple decided to bend a few traditions, and create meaningful moments to suit their 'laidback' vibe and to eliminate any extra stress. Siobhan explains: "We wanted a day that was as relaxed and fun as possible, it was important to us to spend as much time as we could with friends and family and to enjoy the day. We moved away from tradition with no first dance or formal speeches. For us, this entirely removed any stress on the day! We took our photographs before the ceremony so we could spend more time at the drinks reception with everyone who had joined us and we are delighted we did."
They even shared an intimate 'first look' before their ceremony. The trend is quite popular, especially in all-inclusive venues where both the ceremony and reception are held. And we can see why - an unforgettable moment together that is cherished and captured forever!
Kilshane House stole the hearts of both Siobhan and Roger when they set out to find the one. Situated on 320 acres of private parkland in the heart of Co. Tipperary, the huge curvilinear conservatory, which dates back as far as 1860, and the magnificent Orangery, is truly the perfect choice for any wedding all year round! "A combination of the setting and the people. We knew we wanted somewhere that we could have the ceremony and reception in one place and ideally, somewhere that would just be us and our guests for the day. We loved Kilshane as soon as we saw it – it was the first and only place we went to see and booked straight away," they say.
One of their favourite ceremony readings recalled was 'You are the Bubbles by Rachel Bright' that they found on One Fab Day. "It seemed like a perfect fit for the type of ceremony we wanted, also my uncle Noel did the reading. The ceremony music by musical duo Kelly and Damien from Something Blue Acoustics – they were absolutely fantastic," says Siobhan. They played Lady Gaga's Always Remember Us This Way during the drinks reception and it will forever make Siobhan smile and think of the love felt by everyone on the day.
Roger executed black-tie style to perfection with his elegant tuxedo. We love the polka dot waistcoat - stylish and ever so dapper! Her beautiful bride tribe, pretty in pink, brought some extra sparkle to the style. They wore a halter neck neckline, embellished with sequin designs and a dipped hem skirt. The pop of deep red roses against the soft pinks adds a touch of on-trend romance. "My wonderful bridesmaids gifted me a safety pin as something old, something blue, something borrowed and something new on it which was very special to me. Roger also surprised me the morning of the wedding with a bouquet charm with a picture of my grandad so he could be with me walking down the aisle. While I was adamant I wouldn’t cry on the day., this did get me," says Siobhan.
Stealing our doggy-obsessed hearts is Bella, who went all out representing both Co. Clare and Co. Kerry in a customised outfit made by Roger’s mother, Vourneen. Best dressed in our eyes!
The decor was tickled pink with pastel details and blossoming roses. Glorious golden hues were seen throughout the reception room from the tablescapes to the cake display. The couple chose three centrepiece options, all contrasting but complementary. A good styling tip is to mix and match the heights of the centrepieces, which is exactly what Siobhan and Roger did. Tall geometric floral stands created the height and wow factor, whilst the low gold floral bowls soaked up all the floral attention. They added a gold cluster of tapered candlesticks, cylinder vases and tealights. And lastly, a gold cake hoop haloed the blue cake - check out that spatula-painted style frosting detail!
The newlyweds describe their what inspired their wedding aesthetic: "Pinterest andOne Fab Day were a big help when planning! We didn’t know where to start with vendors but seeing reviews from others really helped us. Knowing that other couples had a positive experience was reassuring. We had a general style in mind and as we found our vendors and booked they also had some great advice to get everything to work together. Also, I have always loved pink so it probably wasn’t surprising it featured quite a bit on the day!"
Siobhan and Roger offer some invaluable advice - engaged couples, listen up! "It’s your day, focus on the things that are most important to you both. The day is about celebrating so plan a party you will both enjoy. The only other advice would be to trust your vendors and book early. We had the most fantastic vendors who did absolutely everything to enhance our day – remember you chose them for a reason and this is what they do best."
Before concluding the gorgeous Kilshane House wedding of Siobhan and Roger, we must share with you their Italian minimoon of dreams! "We went on a minimoon to Italy after the wedding to Venice, Florence and Rome before spending a week in Sorrento. It was really lovely to get away just the two of us after the wedding and spend some time together. It’s a busy couple of weeks in the run-up to the wedding so it was great to go away. Planning in progress for the honeymoon!"
Thank you so much to the wonderful couple and Claire of Studio Brown for capturing a magical day to share with us all!
