Dark and dreamy, a little bit vintage, a little bit country and a little bit Rock 'n' Roll today's real wedding is a real beaut. Irish bride Emma and New Zealand groom Ryan put their own twist on a country wedding at Mount Druid, and we're thrilled to share their results with you so perfectly captured by Ewa Figaszewska Photography...
Kindred souls Emma and Ryan met in London, when Emma walked into a pub one rainy night in Shoreditch looking like "a drowned rat." Ryan later told Emma the moment she walked in he thought..."THAT GIRL! I'M GOING TO MARRY THAT GIRL!"
Head over heels for each other Emma and Ryan's proposal was spontaneous and absolutely perfectly suited to them. Emma remembers..."It was a blazing hot day, July 4th 2014. We were at a concert in Hyde Park. There was a few drinks had and Faith No More were on stage. We were singing along, having a blast. Ryan then turned and looked at me and said "it doesn't really get much better than this. I just.... I just want you to be my wife!" To which I giggled and said "is that a proposal?" He replied - "yes, yes it is" I said "well you better get down on one knee then" which he did, in the middle of the crowd and gave me his skull ring to put on."
Originally from the New Zealand countryside Ryan was keen to have a wedding surrounded by nature. When they visited Mount Druid Ryan was reminded of home and just like that Emma and Ryan had found their perfect venue.
Ultra stylish bride Emma had a bespoke wedding dress made by friend Sarah Foy for the day, which she styled to perfection with a dark red lip by Danielle Mahon and 1940's victory rolls. Beautiful.
Elated bride Emma describes what made the day truly special to them..."We are privileged to have incredibly talented friends. They were responsible for the dress, cake, hair and make up and stationary design and printing. Having those people present on the day was fantastic to see it all these elements come together. We also had the most beautiful speeches from family members. It meant the world to us."
For their honeymoon Emma and Ryan are in the midst of planning a trip to New Zealand. Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all.
