Rock Chic Wedding in Dublin City by Siobhan Byrne

Featuring a roll-call of some of my favourite places in Dublin, Anna and Mirko made the most of a city centre celebration popping round the heart of the city from iconic location to iconic location captured beautifully by Siobhan Byrne

Starting the weekend off on a high, this super wedding of a very cool couple Anna and Mirko should get you in a party mood. When the groom's mane is longer than the bride, and the bride rocks up the aisle with hot pink hairdo you know you are in for a treat. One glance at the pictures from Siobhan Byrne told us this was a Dublin City wedding with a difference. We love these two, we're sure you will too...

The night before the wedding myself, my sister and my three friends stayed in the Merchant House Temple Bar, right in the heart for the city. What an incredible timeless house, set with beautiful antique furniture. We had such a wonderful stay and it was a fantastic way to start the celebration.

Myself and Mirko met 12 years ago and we never talked much about marriage until two years ago. I was getting dressed one Sunday morning chatting away to Mirko. Mirko said to me "do you want to marry me?" I didn't realise it was a question and replied "ah yeah, why not". So Mirko grabbed me and we start jumping around in a circle laughing. Mirko was shouting "we are getting married" and I was like "Oh really? Yay"! It was so funny and sums us up really.

Anna's ruby locks are quite the head-turner, and set off to perfection with her beautifully delicate hair chain, but she isn't the only one with a flowing mane that needed tending - not something you see at every wedding, and a very sweet moment, when Anna plaited Mirko's hair for him into a long braid.

After a few moments together, the couple separated so Mirko could make the short walk across from Temple Bar to Fallon & Byrne, where the guests awaited their arrival.

The ceremony was held in Fallon & Byrne at 3.30, so everybody was in the room waiting for me from 3pm. I was a little late so I didn't really have to much time to think or get nervous. When I entered the room and looked at Mirko and all our family and friends my heart skipped a beat. It was so surreal and very emotional. It's a memory I know I'll never forget. The day went so fast like a dream, we really felt so overwhelmed with happiness.

After the ceremony, Anna and Mirko wandered round the surrounding Dublin streets with their photographer Siobhan Byrne, who had picked out some prime spots as backdrops for their wedding portraits.

With a style as unique and striking as Anna and Mirko's, it was essential to choose equally cool and eye-catching locations.

And all the while, the guests enjoyed a few quiet clinkies in the warmth and seclusion of the Library bar, upstairs in the Central Hotel.

We were so relaxed about the whole situation and just wanted to keep it small with close family and friends. We managed to arrange everything and enjoy the organising stress free. I think this helped us to get the most out of the day and enjoy every second. We spent a lot of time researching ideas on how we could add our own vibe to the day. We wrote down a few words that described us both, to help us come up with a theme for our wedding day. We chose words like vintage, rock & roll, colourful, quirky, alternative and rustic. We then created a mood board based on these words. We collected ideas on flower bouquets, buttonholes, room decorations, table displays and a colour palette containing peaches, creams, greens, oranges, reds and lemons.

This was unbelievably helpful as we could email the mood board to Fallon & Byrne and to Trish the Florist to give them an idea on what style we were going for. It also set us on the right track and helped us stay within our budget. We really wanted to get involved creatively, so we decided to make our own room and table decorations with the help of our good friends. We worked many weekends sitting in with a bottle of wine making Pom Poms. We had 56 in total and it took at least 40 minuters per pompom between the two of us. You can only imagine how many hours we spent on them, but it was so worth it. When we walked into Fallon and Byrne on the day we felt so proud to see them hanging in the room.

Huge thanks to Anna and Mirko for sharing their wedding with us, congratulations guys! And of course big thanks to Siobhan Byrne for sharing her work on this super cool shindig! www.siobhanbyrnephotography.com/
