Today’s wedding inspiration shoot is for couples looking for an elegant, romantic feel to their wedding day. Created by designers and stylists, Fleur & Fig and captured by the talented Philippa Sian Photography, this shoot has whimsical style, luxurious stationery, beautiful table decor, and fine art florals. Captured at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, the former home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the details pay homage to the historic setting and its royal residents. If you love the idea of planning a celebration with a refined atmosphere and story book aesthetic, this shoot is laden with inspiration for a regal wedding that's fit for a queen...
Philippa & Stephanie of Fleur & Fig say the historic venue was a big influence on the design of this shoot, “Osborne House provided the stunning back drop for this editorial, offering beautiful regal blue spaces, warm stone, luscious gardens and misty beaches. Osborne House was Queen Victoria’s private home away from court life, and provided the venue and backdrop of her daughter Beatrice’s wedding. Beatrice’s wedding was the last to be held here for a number of years.”
The colour palette was inspired by The Victoria Hall, a room in the house with deep regal blue walls, “We wanted to celebrate this luxurious colour but equally add some lighter colours such as ivory, grey, gold and touches of blush, to achieve a feminine look.”
The bridal style took its cue from a princess-worthy wedding, “Our lovely bride Jayne, wore two stunning dresses from London bridal designer, Kate Edmondson Bridal Couture. The first dress, Ophelia, was a simple and sophisticated design with opulent art deco-style cap sleeves. The second dress came as a two piece, with a Victorian-style corset top and full, tulle skirt.”
The dresses were accessorised with hair accessories from Victoria Fergusson, a halo cushion diamond ring from the London Victorian Ring Company, and beautiful Arabella’ heels by Harriet Wilde. “Jayne’s look was perfected with a natural fine art makeup and a loose romantic up-do by Victoria Martin. Jane’s beautiful bouquet was finished with tones of blue silk ribbon from Kate Cullen.”
The tablescape was in keeping with the opulent colours and textures, “Using deep blue table linen mixed back with soft grey napkins from Crystal Hire, and then a touch of light femininity with beautiful white floral ace dinnerware from Duchess & Butler, modern gold cutlery and textured crystal glassware. Beautiful Louis chairs from Academy Furniture Hire added a feel of true luxury to the tablescape scene.”
Every detail from the plates to the glassware is so carefully chosen!
Flowers and candles added a romantic feel, “The floral centrepieces by The Floral Boutique cascaded over the table to add that fine art, feminine touch. Candlesticks were placed along the centre of the table to add further pops of gold and blue. Delicate place names using wax seals by Bureau Design were laid at each place setting to complete the look.”
The stationery was designed, by Tanya from Bureau Design, with the setting in mind, using symbolism connected with Queen Victoria, her marriage, and her daughters wedding, “The orange blossom wreath that Queen Victoria wore for her wedding to Prince Albert was incorporated into the refined detail and design of the stationery. Prince Albert also gave her a suite of jewellery featuring orange blossom when they were engaged. Orange blossom also used to flourish on the terraces at Osborne House and it was used for every anniversary of theirs and many other royal weddings thereafter.”
Even the menu was created with regal history in mind, “The seasonal spring menu for our editorial was also based on local produce and takes inspiration from the wedding breakfast menu of Princess Beatrice, Victoria’s daughter, at Osborne House.”
The pretty semi-naked wedding cake was made by Ellie from Milk Street Kitchen. “Ellie kept her design simple, and let all the detail do all the talking, including dusky pink macaroons and sea shells with eucalyptus.”
Trailing ivy always adds an antique feel to a bouquet, don't you think?
I love how this two-piece dress adds a more modern and playful feel to the luxe shoot.
Oh the opulence - so many gorgeous ideas! Thanks so much to Philippa Sian Photography, Fleur & Fig, and the rest of the talented suppliers behind this shoot for sharing it with us.
