Girls choose "pink to make the boys wink" as my Granny used to say - what could be more girly and feminine and summery than a pretty wedding colour palette of precious pinks and purples combined with ruby reds? This is the colour theme chosen by a lovely reader who got in touch recently with a bit of a wedding dilemma.
She asked us to create an inspiration board for her to show off to some special people in her life to persuade them that her vision for a colourful pink palette with lots of hues of red and purple would work. We were happy to oblige and created the following as just a sample of how pink, purple and red can go beautifully together when coordinated for a wedding...
Choosing a mixed colour palette like this gives you much more freedom and flexibility when choosing the various wedding items. The pressure is off in terms of making everything match perfectly - instead a red pair of shoes, a pink bridesmaid dress, a purple ribbon on the cake, they can all blend together. The key is to have a few items where the colours are combined - such as the bouquet above, where pink and red are seen together. These core items will set the tone for the overall look, leaving you free to choose items of single colour elsewhere.
