A Few of our Favourite Real Weddings - 2012 in Review

Just before the clock strikes we take a look back and swoon once more over some very favourite real weddings from among those we featured in 2012.

The clock is ticking and the band is starting to tune up, hope you've got your bubbly chilling and ready to ring in a fabulous New Year. But just before the clock strikes 12 and 2012 comes to an end, we wanted to look back over the year and swoon once more over some very favourite real weddings from among those we featured in 2012. Each one is a huge inspiration and a joy to behold...

Old School Glamour

First up, there was the vision of old school Hollywood glamour that was Jonny and Stacey's Belfast wedding. A classically elegant affair, with an air of sophistication, and more than a little perfection. Very New Year's Eve as I think of it... http://onefabday-com-preprod.go-vip.net/belfast-wedding-by-ten21-photography/

Loved Up at Larchfield Estate

A garden party wedding is the dream of many, but few make it come true in such fabulous fashion as Cameron and Katy. Piped down the pathway-aisle, to the ceremony in the walled garden at Larchfield Estate, followed by lawn games, pimms and picnics - this wedding proves the sun does shine in Ireland and nothing can beat an outdoor celebration. It helps too, to have our friends the Lou's of Blackbox Photography to catch it all on camera... http://onefabday-com-preprod.go-vip.net/larchfield-estate-wedding-by-blackbox-photography/

Cameo & City Chic

For those of you who are true blue Dubliners, Aoife and Carl's lovely city wedding combining the best of Dublin, from city centre haunt that many of us are familiar with, to the lovely country manor venue that is Finnstown House, will be a dream from start to finish. Adding a really unique touch - Aoife chose cameo brooches as her inspiration, bringing a vintage element that was woven through all the elements. Perfect inspiration for creating a look of your own. Captured beautifully by Eric of Savo Photography. See more: http://onefabday-com-preprod.go-vip.net/cameo-wedding/

The Ultimate Boho Wedding

Just before Christmas we were blown away by the unbelieveable creativity, imagination and downright coolness that was Xander and Christine's amazing tipi wedding. But no wonder  - Christine and Xander are the photographic wunderkind duo that is NavyBlur Photography. Being fantastic wedding photographers, it was no surprise that their wedding had it all. Literally. You will see, trust us. And of course they got genius Jeff Newsom over to get every last detail right for them. The results are quite simply astonishing. A Lesson in How to do a DIY Wedding

When it comes to wedding planning, every bride I know wants to do a bit (or a lot) of wedding DIY, but for those couples living abroad, DIY is more about delegating to devoted family and friends. Annemarie and Iain's Roscommon wedding is a triumph over distance (they organised from London) and created one of the most fun picnic style weddings of 2012, Paul Kelly was on hand to catch all the fun and frolics... http://onefabday-com-preprod.go-vip.net/diy-wedding-by-paul-kelly/

Sweetness and Light - A Lisnavagh Wedding

One for the dreamy romantics, Roisin and Declan's Summer wedding at Lisnavagh House is a lesson in how a wedding should really reflect a couple's personalities. Roisin was a really beautiful bride, who clearly has her own sense of style and confidently carried it through on her wedding day, her beautiful vintage wedding gown is the last word in simplicity, and paired with her loose natural hair and minimal makeup, allowed her natural beauty and poise to shine. Declan is a groom who just couldn't stop beaming with pride and joy. This is clearly a wedding all about love.  Therese Aherne captured their story in glorious colour.

A Modern Romance in Glasgow

Crooksy (Martyn) and Jamie's Glasgow wedding was a very cool blend of modern and old-school, the unusual, surprising and the traditional. At every stage of the day, and in every element, they put their own stamp and made it a very modern romance. And to make sure every element was captured in perfect detail, they chose the incomparable Ten21 as their photographers, and Ricky and Shelley did them proud…

Sweet Serendipity - A Millhouse Wedding to Inspire

Rachel and Ben’s story of sweet serendipitous love is one to savour, and their wedding a medley of gorgeous soft Summery decor and details. Based in Australia, they returned to Ireland to celebrate with family and friends and decamped to The Millhouse by the banks of the River Boyne for a wedding to remember, including an outdoor ceremony in the orchard by the riverbank, photographed almost entirely on film by Lisa O’Dwyer, this is a symphony to delight in.

Jenny and Rossa Knitted Wedding

The best bit of being a wedding blogger - sharing the day of a couple who have read the blog and been inspired by what you’ve published, to see ideas come to life in a celebration that is perfectly personal and absolutely original. It was an honour to share the beautiful wedding of Jenny and Rossa at Ballybeg House, complete with some of the most amazing details - all created by Jenny herself who is an avid knitter, captured by Julie Matkin of Half a Dream Away. The Perfect Winter Wedding

Celeste and Alten made the most of the Winter season and embraced the cooler weather  for their wedding at Summerlees Estate in New South Wales, Australia. Epic inspiration for anyone planning a cold weather celebration, Celeste's gorgeous winter bride style with cute coat, mittens and covetable grey suede booties, their chilly but charming outdoor ceremony and the lovely seasonal decorative touches (ever seen a bride with a hot water bottle) All captured beautifully by James and Megan from Solas Photography. Cherry Blossom Dreams

And finally, last but not least, one of the most spectacular weddings we had this year in terms of decor - the Spring romance of Aoife and Enda, Despite less-than-perfect weather, Aoife and Enda had what could only be described as a fairytale wedding. This is one to show your little sisters and nieces — it’s the princess wedding every little girl dreams of, captured lovingly by Amanda Wilcher.
