Surrounded by vibrant seasonal touches, our real wedding couple Kezi and Mike exchanged their vows in the historic Dromoland Castle. Warm and colourful, the pair's special day had a rich autumnal colour palette - complete with charming pumpkin décor and an aisle lined with dried leaves. Full of character, this spectacular celebration provides the ultimate wedding inspiration for any couples planning their own autumnal affair. With a showstopping castle photoshoot and delightful Turkish touches that nod to our bride's heritage, check out Kezi and Mike's special day, captured by Anna G Photography and with videography by Daydream Pictures, below!
Before diving into the details of their special day, let's get to know the happy couple! Although they didn't initially click when introduced through a mutual friend, Kezi and Mike's paths crossed again a few months later: "We saw each other in a bar on New Year's Day - we toasted with a shot and the rest is history!" Fast forward to an engagement story equally as festive when Mick proposed on Christmas Eve: "We traditionally open a present at midnight and my present was my ring!"
Our glowing bride wore a phenomenal floral embroidered Pronovias gown complete with a statement veil and shimmering embellished headpiece. Pairing her bridal look with Jimmy Choo heels and diamond earrings that were a gift from Mick, Kezi held an autumnal bouquet of wonderfully seasonal flowers including vibrant amaranth and garden roses.
Against the backdrop of a grand staircase lined with pumpkins and gourds, Kezi made her way amongst dried leave to a live rendition of I Will Love You Every Time by Davey Arthur and The Furys. Wanting to create an enchanted feeling in the venue, the couple also incorporated lots of candles and impactful seasonal floral arrangements to achieve the magical autumnal vibe of their October day.
Along with Instagram and Pinterest, Kezi drew inspiration from One Fab Day real wedding couple Alyson and David's Halloween celebration: "I loved the way they had beautifully incorporated the theme into their wedding, it was done so elegantly, and their flowers were amazing!"
Kezi and Mike's spectacular castle ceremony went on to include a sweet Hand-Fasting ritual, followed by a phenomenal photoshoot on the grounds of the estate.
How adorable is the couple's flower girl in her autumnal flower crown?
In terms of what was important to the couple on their wedding day: "We wanted to ensure our wedding was fun. Us enjoying the day and celebrating with our family and friends was our number one priority. Most people won’t remember all your small touches, but they will remember they enjoyed themselves."
Kezi and Mike had this advice for couples embarking on their own wedding planning journey: "Enjoy the run up to your wedding. It’s so easy to get consumed by the stress of it all but try not to worry about the small things, as nobody will notice except for you. Remember it is your special day and enjoy every bit of it, especially the run up to it."
Mick hails from Galway and Kezi from London with Turkish Cypriot parents, Kezi wanted to ensure they incorporated Turkish traditions into their Irish wedding: "My dad helped to organise a Davul Zurna for our reception - this is a traditional form of music played as the bride and groom are entering their reception." The couple's wedding favours, made by Kezi's parents, were also a nod towards her Turkish heritage - individually wrapped boxes filled with Turkish Delight and an evil eye keepsake.
The couple enjoyed thier reception at their own sweetheart table, and had their first dance to It's Your Love by Tim McGraw. After their busy wedding celebrations, the couple jetted off to Italy together: "Luckily Kezi’s parents offered to take care of our 18-month-old son, so we were able to mini moon in Rome for a few days after the wedding. We then waited until after Christmas and we went on a family honeymoon to St Lucia."
