We had more than a sneaking suspicion that Priyanka Chopra's wedding to Nick Jonas would be an extravagant affair, but we could never have predicted just how extravagant! Actress Priyanka and pop star Nick opted for an elaborate, four-day bash with 225 of their closest friends in a literal palace in Priyanka's native India, including not one, but two wedding ceremonies. Of course, we had to have a little gush over the details of the day, as captured by photographer Jose Villa, starting with Priyanka Chopra's wedding dress, a stunning, embroidered Ralph Lauren creation.
The American designer, who has previously only designed wedding dresses for family members, came up with a heart-stopping long-sleeved wedding gown that took 1,826 hours to bead and embroider. It featured a high-neck collar, lace-effect tulle appliqué, and a figure-hugging silhouette that we're pretty floored by - it's elegant, modern and oh-so-luxurious. A dress like this demands some pretty fabulous accessories, so Priyanka completed the look with a 75-foot tulle veil and custom Jimmy Choo shoes.
Priyanka and Nick's celebrations kicked off with a Mehendi ceremony, during which they were both adorned with henna tattoos, followed by a Sangeet - a night of music and dancing, during which families on both sides perform elaborate musical numbers. The couple were then married in a Western ceremony on the lawn of their venue, the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
The Sangeet looks like so much fun! The couple's Western celebration found them partying late into the night, and then doing it all again the next day for their Hindu wedding. This time, Priyanka wore a traditional red lehenga, custom-made by Indian fashion designer, Sabyasachi, which took 110 Indian embroiderers 3,720 hours to create, and features hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, and layers of thread work. Paired with Chopard jewellery and Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi, it's another absolute heart-stopper.
Priyanka Chopra's wedding dress really appeals to the maximalist in me! I'm also quite jealous of Nick's gold Louboutin loafers!
Umaid Bhawan Palace looks straight-up magical! I just hope we get to see some more images from the reception! In the mean time, you'll find some short video clips from the day over on People Magazine's Instagram account.
