As a self-confessed ribbon lover (read: hoarder!) this is one of my favourite wedding decor looks ever! Whether you’re a DIY bride or just happen to love pretty little details, ribbon can add beautiful touches to your wedding from the bright and colourful, to the understated and opulent. Stationery and bouquets or chairs and cakes, you can decorate with ribbon just about anywhere. With ideas as simple as adding ribbons to your bouquet or tying a silk bow onto menu cards, several of these inspiring ribbon wedding ideas can be used in more ways than one, and can even be taken on as a simple DIY project before the big day.
1. Ribbon Bouquets
Bridal bouquets adorned with trailing silk, satin or velvet ribbon looks divine and adds the perfect romantic touch. Using several ribbons with slightly different shades and textures complements the natural hues and will take your bouquet to the next level.
2. Ribbon Stationery
We love the texture, luxury and softness that adding a touch of ribbon to accent your invitations, ceremony programs and day-of stationery creates, a great way to incorporate your wedding colours throughout your day.
3. Ribbon Ceremony Decor
Use ribbons to dress up the altar, the backs of chairs or even as a ceremony backdrop for your 'I dos'.
4. Ribbon Table Plans
Guide guests to their dinner seats with the help of these pretty escort cards. The best part about this display is it doubles up as an interactive decoration!
5. Ribbon Wands
A cute way to celebrate your nuptials, have your guests wave hooray as you make your way down the aisle as newlyweds! They are also a sweet and budget-friendly flower alternative for your littlest attendants.
6. Ribbon Backdrops
Perfect for behind the top table, cake table or as a backdrop for your photobooth, ribbon is a great way to add a pop of colour (and fun!) to your space.
7. Ribbon Chair Decor
The prettiest way to spruce up your chairs, buy ribbon in bulk and deck out your chairs all the way to the floor, or if you're on a budget, accent just the bride and groom's chairs to make them extra special!
8. Ribbon Wedding Cakes
What could be prettier than a beautiful wedding cake finished with a ribbon bow? An easy way to add opulence to a simple cake.
9. Ribbon Escort Cards
Dainty and romantic, escort cards paired with calligraphy and ribbons or silk bows provide the prettiest welcome for your guests.
10. Place Settings
Dress up your dinner napkins with pretty satin, velvet or silk ribbon. For an added wow factor you could use calligraphy to place your guests' names on the ribbons.
11. Ribbon Chandeliers and Installations
Create a serious wow factor with these-chandelier and large-scale installations - probably not one to take on yourself, talk to a wedding stylist about designing something really special.
12. Ribbon Wedding Favours
Embellish your favour boxes with a pretty ribbon bow, a simple, yet beautiful, way to adorn a parting gift.
One Fab Day tip: Even if not planning a big ribbon project, we always advise brides to grab a few lengths or spools of ribbon in their wedding tones as it is such a versatile item to have in your wedding kit. When in doubt just use my motto - put a bow on it!
