Tuesday isn't a great day during the week, it's like an extension of Monday without being midweek! For me it's a day where I need a definite pep in my step and a pretty pastel wedding like today's is going to do just that! Samantha and Colm are a super cute and super happy couple and why wouldn't they be when they're marrying their soul mate! The two worked together on all the decisions of the day from the ceremony to the décor and planned a perfect pastel wedding at the picturesque Lyrath Estate. The day went seamlessly, so lets take a peek at the photographs by Candy Stripe Photography...
So lets hear how it all started... "Myself and Colm met when we were 18 through mutual friends. Colm asked me out and I politely declined. I then went on to have a 4 year relationship. He asked me out again when I was single and I said why not. Here we are 5 years later and married. I still can't believe how blind I was to how much I loved him! Colm said to my step father 'It wasn’t a matter of if she went out with me, it was a matter of when' I guess he was right!|
So now we know a bit of persistence goes along way! When it came to popping the question Colm kept it simple "...Colm proposed to me at home on Christmas Eve 2011, while I was cleaning our house! When I asked him why, he said he wanted to propose to me where we were going to make our life together. I immediately said yes and got planning immediately!"
A little bit of lace and a little bit of sparkle makes Samantha a happy bride! Her beautiful lace embroidered gown is the Evelyn dress from San Patrick. Accessorising with embellished heels and a beautiful lace veil, Samantha is ready for the day to begin...
Now, do we have a stylish groom or what today?! Colm is a dapper gent in his three-piece blue suit with check detailing from ASOS. To top it off he added a gold pocket watch, pale blue bow tie and of course some designer stubble! The boys are giving us girls a run for our money these days. Just look at some of our stylish grooms from the past...
For the church ceremony the pair added their own touches with beautiful blooms and pretty chair decor.
"The church ceremony was the most special part of the day for us. I had originally wanted a civil ceremony and Colm had wanted a church, so we went with the church. He was so right, it was beautiful and I practically ran up the aisle to see him. The church music was stunning which made it all the more special."
Aw look how cute these too are, it's great to be so at ease you can have a giggle during your ceremony!
And with that the pair are official, surrounded by their nearest and dearest!
So where to for these newlyweds? When it came to choosing their venue, it was love at first sight...I fell in love with Lyrath Estate as soon as I stepped inside, I loved the mix of old and new. The old house was perfect for our drinks reception and the new part of the hotel for the dinner reception. The food was exceptional, and the events team went above and beyond to make our day a success.
Little details in Samantha's bridal look including the sweet scalloped lace edges of her veil and pretty sweetheart neckline are so romantic and beautiful.
As well as a beautiful venue building, Lyrath Estate boasts some beautiful gardens, perfect for photographs. Photography was one of the elements that was high on the priority list for Samantha and Colm and they were thrilled to work with Susie of Candy Stripe Photography on the day.
From the brides pink pastel bouquet to the bridesmaids baby blue gowns from Jenny Packham, the colour palette of the day is soft pastel perfection and it compliments the boys' dark blue suits too!
"Our wedding day was very special because we took 2 years to plan what I feel was the best of my life so far. For the look I went with a bit of a vintage theme, old china cups and saucers, typewriters and lots of flowers. The day felt very relaxed and it meant the world for us to have our closest friends and family around us."
Pretty floral displays and cute vintage touches were added to the reception to continue the pretty colour palette - How cute is the typewriter guest book?
The finishing touch, a perfect pastel wedding cake complete with flower details and ribbon!
So what advice did Samantha and Colm have to share with couples planning their own day? "Go with what both of you want and take your time to plan it. People will have opinions and ideas, but it is what is special to you both that will shine through on the day. Take some time alone with your husband or wife because I never really thought the day would go so quickly. I remember thinking to myself wow its 4am, where did the day go!"
This pair didn't have much down time after the wedding as the jetted of to California to dance the days away at the Coachella Music festival in Palm Springs (nope I'm not jealous at all...!) Congrats you pair!
Of course a big Thank You goes to Susie of Candy Stripe Photography for sharing her work with us. To see more of Susie's work pop over to www.facebook.com/CandyStripePhotography
