Today's Real Wedding couple, Mackenzie and Daniel found love in New York City, after a whirlwind romance that took them around the world they said 'I do' in Powerscourt House and Gardens. With a mix of Irish and American guests, the couple wanted to showcase the best of Irish hospitality, with the best of food and drink, a beautiful venue in some of the most iconic scenery in the country. We're delighted to be able to bring you this elegant celebration of love and laughter by Moat Hill Photography.

This international jetsetting couple really did have a whirlwind romance - they've scarcely drawn breath since they first met 5 years ago, as Daniel explained "We met through work friends of Mackenzie’s who were connected with my room-mate at the time (about a month after Mackenzie moved to NYC and 3 years after I arrived via London). We fell in love in New York City over three years, then got engaged and moved to Singapore for two years. We recently returned to New York and bought our first apartment in NYC, followed shortly after by a wedding in Dublin." Well we're positively dizzy...

So how did Daniel pop the question? "The proposal took place in Paris on Mackenzie’s 25th birthday during a weekend trip after we had  travelled to the UK for a friend’s wedding. I  proposed near the Eiffel Tower on a walk after dinner (it was the only place we didn’t get a chance to see while exploring earlier in the day). The Eiffel tower was not as romantic a scene as I expected, but made for lots of laughs (something we enjoy as a couple quite often)." A great basis for a lasting marriage - true love is filled with laughter.

Mackenzie and Daniel got married in the majestic Church of the Annunciation in Rathfarnham, the perfect grand setting for this elegant couple.

Mackenzie and the girls are ready to roll but first a moment with a proud Papa.

The knot has been tied, the vows made, and two very happy people are off to celebrate in style...

And where was the choice of venue? None other that the magnificent Powerscourt House set in some of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland. "Powerscourt House and Gardens is just stunning and offers formal gardens with a gorgeous ballroom without being too over-the-top, just classic beauty not gilded decadence. The drive from Rathfarnham to Enniskerry offers spectacular views of the Sugar Loaf and Wicklow countryside. We knew the drive and venue would be breathtaking and would blow our guests away."

Doesn't Mackenzie look a dream? Perfectly captured by Moat Hill Photography, their eye for a great shot captured the couple and party in imaginative and beautiful ways all around those gorgeous gardens.

Mackenzie is a beautiful bride, her look is elegant and classic (and yes, we are more than slightly jealous of her Carolina Herrera dress) her raven hair, porcelain skin and ruby red lips make her a real life snow white...

Mackenzie and Daniel's wedding was a mix of modern sophistication and vintage romance. In keeping with the magnificent gardens and rather grand venue, the dress code was black-tie but the flowers and colors were soft and loose to create a relaxed, romantic vibe inside the house. Modern furniture was setup for cocktails and dancing to create a fun, sophisticated atmosphere. With Irish and American guests attending the wedding Mackenzie and Daniel wanted to create a vibe that was welcoming to all guests.

What were your priorities when it came to planning your special day? "Top priority was to showcase Ireland’s best views, food, cheese, drink and people. The venue was top priority as it set the mood for the day and showed off what Ireland is famous for, the gorgeous countryside and views of Sugar Loaf mountains. We also chose black-tie because we wanted the occasion to feel special (something to dress up for so not just the bride/groom feel special, but everyone!) Food and wine was critical as well so catering through Ritz Carlton Catering and sourcing wines through Grapecircus and cheeses from Sheridan’s allowed us to showcase Ireland best food during our meal. Next priority was flowers to match the glamour of the venue while adding in as many personal touches as possible through favours designed by hand and a unique handmade seating chart."

What made the day really special to you... The food was unbelievable and I think everyone absolutely loved it (this was important to us as many of our guests were well traveled ‘foodies’). Then the band was absolutely awesome, their song selection was spot on and was the perfect mix of old classics and pop songs to pack the dance floor.

So having organised a wedding from the other side of the pond, have you any wise words to share with those organising theirs closer to home? "Just try to relax and let go as much as you can. Once the day arrives it is out of your control, the best thing is to sit back and enjoy it! Things do go wrong you can count on that, but usually these are little things that don’t matter and no one but you will notice. A great piece of advice we also got was from our band — they said people naturally gravitate towards the bride/groom. So, if you want your dance floor packed you need to be out there yourselves!"

Congratulations to Daniel and Mackenzie of their fabulous wedding day, and huge thanks for sharing it with us all. And of course to Moat Hill Photography  - another triumph! Pop over to www.mhphoto.ie to see lots more gorgeous and inspirational images...
