For creative types a wedding is a dream come true - a fantastic opportunity to let imagination run wild and create the big fab party you've always wanted. And when these creative brains go into gear they can transform the simplest of spaces into something enchanting. That's exactly what duo Zoe and Joe did for their wedding. They combined their talents to transform a Town Hall into a party place par excellence, with a big dose of colour and fun. They giggled their way through every minute of their wonderful wedding, and I'm sure will have you smiling from ear to ear. Throwing tradition out the window, they created a wedding that was clearly a blast to be at. You can't get much better than that.
While most couples meet fairly predictably in the pub, this stylish pair did it with a bit of a twist. They met at one of Soho's last remaining speakeasies. It turns out neither had actually had intended going, but were persuaded by their respective friends. A very luck case of chance for both.
They soon turned out to be a match made in (vintage) heaven and Joe proposed to Zoe on Christmas day in Scotland, high on a snowy hillside with not a soul in sight.
Love this family picture. If you're wedding is coming up be sure to get a good snap with your mum and or dad, such a lovely keepsake to have.
As they are both from creative backgrounds, Zoe and Joe knew they wanted their venue to be a blank canvas that they could add their own style to. You'll see in a moment how that turned out...
But first, they had quite a traditional wedding ceremony with lots of giggles and grins, even when the rings didn't fit they just laughed even more. Definitely my kind of couple and a reminder not to sweat the small stuff, after all the main thing is you have a whole lot of fun.
Leaving the church Zoe and Joe were greeted to an admirable level of confetti and true blue skies. They opted for lavender confetti but if you'd like to use something a little different have a look at our 10 Fun and Unusual Confetti Alternatives.
How gorgeous is Zoe's vintage hair-do & veil combo?
Post ceremony Zoe and Joe headed off for a very picturesque stroll with the lovely Ewa & Sly from Vivvi Photography.
The nearby casino was perfect for some fun portraits and Zoe and Joe even gave out 10p favours in little paper bags for their guests to have a bit of arcade fun. Such a clever little idea!
The venue itself was picked largely due to it's scenic seaside location, in Portobello, Edinburgh. From these shots it's quite clear that they made the perfect decision...
Another deciding factor was the architecture of the building itself, an amazing 1914 theatre with oodles of original features. Zoe and Joe were given the venue along with tables, chairs, speakers, a microphone, some stage lights and that’s it. The rest was a total blank canvas, ideal for this creative duo.
Zoe and Joe spent months beforehand collecting bits and bobs and making things themselves, then on the day before the wedding they both set up the venue (with lots of helping hands from vital friends and family.)
Jennifer at Garlands Florist in Edinburgh was put in charge of all things floral for the church, bridal flowers and filling the vintage vases Zoe and Joe had collected.

So. Much. Bunting.
The cakes were all made by friends and as it was Joe's birthday on the day they held double significance as both wedding and birthday cake!
To keep everyone entertained and dancing Zoe and Joe had different playlists for drinks, dinner and the last hour of dancing made by friends. Anyone else wish they'd been at this wedding?
The day after the wedding Joe and Zoe gathered their friends in a local Portobello pub, with lots of left over homemade cakes, the perfect chilled end to this stylish and relaxed wedding. Huge congratulations to you both!
