Perfectly Loved Up In Phoenix Park

A beautiful natural photography session by White Tea Photography, in Dublin's favourite park.

Today we have something a little different, something we haven't really shown before, but hope to do a lot more of: an Engagement Session. Aoife and Thady are recently engaged, and for their wedding they have asked the lovely Aga of White Tea Photography to be their wedding photographer. In advance of their wedding day, White Tea arranged to photograph the couple in the Phoenix Park in a special engagement shoot.

What is an engagement shoot, you ask? In a nutshell - it's a special pre-wedding photoshoot organised with the wedding photographer, that captures the couple as they are in their courtship, in that engagement-glow, something they can treasure for years to come.

And the result... A beautiful set of intimate, real and natural photos like these...

Phoenix Park Never Looked So Romantic

Something to play with, that relaxes the two of you - like the bike or lollipops that Aoife and Thady are messing with - is a great idea. It provides a distraction, especially if you feel uncomfortable with having your photo taken. The more you relax into it, and let the photographer blend into the background, the more they will be able to understand you as a couple and capture you at your most natural and unaffected. This insight into how you behave together will mean they know how to photograph you on the wedding day, how to best capture you naturally interacting with each other. Aoife and Thady actually met when Thady gave Aoife a lollipop (in a nightclub) so it also gives that personal note.

Sigh...

I'm just bowled over by this engagement session - White Tea have outdone themselves, and Aoife and Thady must be so delighted to have such a lovely memento of their courtship (as my Granny used to say).

This set of engagement photos is truly outstanding, and a great example of why it's really worth getting an engagement photo-session done. So while the concept of an engagement shoot is relatively new in Ireland and not that common yet, I think in 2011 we'll be seeing a whole lot more, because they really are very practical (and gorgeous - as you can see) for a number reasons:

Firstly, engagement sessions give you a chance to know your photographer and become more comfortable on front of the camera.

Secondly, it gives your wedding photographer a chance to get to know you; to see and understand how you interact as a couple and to develop a rapport with you, so they can manage you best on the actual wedding day.

And finally, it gives you a set of beautiful photographs of you as a couple, capturing your loved up just-you days...

Many thanks to Aga of White Tea for sharing this beautiful engagement session with us, there's lots more gorgeousness from Phoenix Park over on White Tea's blog - definitely head over.

And to Aoife & Thady - Congratulations guys! I'm sure your wedding is going to be amazing.
