Expectations are always high when a wedding artist gets married, not least from themselves, because naturally if you've spent years making everyone else's weddings beautiful you'll be full of ideas of what to do for your own. So today we're delighted to share the wedding of one of Ireland's finest wedding cake creators and her beloved. Totally adorable pair Iseult and Mathew are one of those couples that you just can't help root for and be happy for when things fall into place for them. With a classic tale of love and beautiful wedding in the beautifully serene Clonwilliam House, I just know you're going to adore this wedding photographed by the talented Into The Light as I much as I do.
Sometimes classic is best, and when it comes to a classic love story you just can't beat it. The adorable Iseult explains how she fell madly in love with beau Mathew: "Matt is a dairy farmer from Meath and I am pastry chef/owner of The Cake Stand. We met in 2010 in Capitol bar in Dublin, I was at the bar with my best friend (and maid of honour at our wedding), enjoying a few mojitos when I felt a menu digging into my shoulder, I turned around to give out and well the rest is history...He stole my heart with his big brown eyes and cheeky charm. A few days later we met at the top of Grafton Street and continued on to the romantic Chez Max at Dublin Castle where we talked all night and he walked me back to my car lending me his coat to keep me warm. I love a bit of romance. We now live in Meath with our golden retriever, Blue."
Clearly smitten Mathew proposed to Iseult last June on the beach at Brittas Bay, and they began planning their picture perfect wedding day at Clonwilliam House and the nearby St. Mary's Church.
The traditional ceremony was officiated by a family friend which made the ceremony really personal and special. Iseult gushes, "we felt so relaxed and just happy!" So sweet and exactly how you want to feel on your wedding day.
To celebrate their wedding reception Iseult and Mathew chose the exceptionally beautiful Clonwilliam House, which they knew was perfect for them from the second they laid eyes on it. Although it's easy to see why, I'll let Iseult explain..."The minute we took the turnoff at Woodenbridge towards Clonwilliam House I was in love, the final stage of the journey was magical. I felt instantly relaxed and it brought back memories of driving through the mountains to Brittas Bay for family holidays. The sunlight twinkling through the trees which had grown into an arch above our heads. Driving through the woodlands up the avenue meeting rabbits and squirrels along the way and then that view! As soon as we got out of the car I new it was the one, and then when we met the staff, our minds were put completely at ease. Miriam made us feel so relaxed and everything was perfect. The setting was so beautiful that I desperately wanted to take full advantage of the nature around us, using that as inspiration for our invitations."
Of course with Iseult such a master cake artist the wedding cake was a work of art, and had pride of place. Looks almost too good to eat!
Iseult chose an elegant silk Jenny Packham wedding dress, which she accessorised with a bespoke veil by Wilde by Design - won in a competition by her sister for Iseult!
Photography and food were the other big focuses of the day, with lots of effort put into planning so that on the day everyone could just sit back, sip their champagne and relax. Iseult explains..."The most important thing we wanted for our wedding was for everyone to have a great day! We wanted good food, good wine/bubbly (we had great fun going on a bit of a booze cruise to France in January), good music, beautiful flowers and all in a beautiful setting. I desperately wanted the day to be as stress free as possible and all about happiness and love and for that to be captured by our fabulous photographers. They made us feel so at ease and we had great fun together!"
If you are eager to plan a similar wedding day Iseult and Matthew have some words of advice..."Get the big things sorted as early as possible and then relax and enjoy being engaged for a little while, you have to remember what the whole thing is about - marrying the person you love. Take people up on their offers of help, especially in the last few days so you can actually enjoy the build up and not be too tired when the big day arrives. A word of advice from the groom: write your speech at least a week before the wedding."
Such incredibly dreamy wedding flowers...
For their honeymoon Iseult and Mathew visited Indonesia, relaxing in the sun, snorkelling and enjoying the local food. A huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your stunning Clonwilliam House wedding with us all. A big thank you also goes to Into The Light for sharing their work with us.
