Pantone Color of the Year 2016 - A Rose Quartz and Serenity Wedding Palette

A perfect pairing.

Every year Pantone releases a color of the year, a colour which dictates the way for color trends in fashion, home decor and for our favourite, weddings. 2015 was the year of Marsala, an earthy red and 2014 brought us Radiant Orchid, a pretty purple shade. This year for the first time ever, the official Pantone Color of the Year 2016 isn’t just one, but a blending two fantastic shades: rose quartz - a warm, romantic soft pink shade and serenity - a cool and light dusty blue. Reminiscent of a summer evening sky, these two shades are naturally so perfect for each other.  A versatile pairing, this palette can be used alongside romantic pastel shades or natural tones or pair with metallics like soft gold, rose gold or copper for a combo that really sparkles. To show you just how pretty this pairing is, we've taken this years Pantone shades and created a modern yet very romantic take on the traditional pastel palette...

How to create a wedding palette using the Pantone Color of the Year 2016...

  • The Stationery: Pair these two pretty tones together in a light and romantic stationery suite.
  • The Style: For a really unique and on-trend wedding dress choose a blush hued confection. Think feminine and floaty for the bridesmaids and choose light summer suits paired with pastel boutonnieres and accessories for the guys. A chic pair of heels finishes the look to perfection.
  • The Flowers: Simplicity is key with this look, cream and pink roses, peonies and ranunculus would all be perfect . Pair with more subtle greenery like lambs ear and dusty miller to keep the tones muted. Tie your beautiful bouquet with some silk ribbon.
  • The Decor: Think minimal but with a feminine touch. Chic copper tapper candle holders and rose mercury glass holders are perfect for a romantic glow on your tables. For an impressive touch, hunt down copper cutlery to really wow your guests. For a cake, we love the idea of the buttercream one above with super trendy geode, gem decoration.
