Artistic & Contemporary Hand Painted Cakes
From the super girly to the highly graphical geometric shapes and more contemporary design are still a favourite among brides. Graphics can be minimal or colourful and both options are the perfect cherry on the top (excuse the pun) at a contemporary wedding.
The beauty of hand painted wedding cakes is that they can be as decorated or as simple as you like, you can also add embellishments like flowers, cake toppers and initial letters to take a simpler painted design to another level.

DIY - Make your Own Hand Painted Cake...
If you're curious about how all this hand painting is done or want to give it a go yourself, this tutorial over on Amelie's House takes you through the process of how she paints cakes freehand using inspiration from images. If you've a talent for drawing this could be a great way to personalise a plain cake.
You can buy plain iced cakes (fondant icing) quite reasonably in high street stores (Marks and Spencer, Tesco etc.), and get edible paints from speciality stores such as Squires Kitchen. All you need then is a brush and a pattern. You can then use your own imagination to draw a pattern or use a stencil to achieve a more polished look. If you're not that confident get in touch with one of our amazing recommended bakers.
