Today's real wedding is showing us just how unique and memorable an outdoor setting can be. Hailey and Tom celebrated their nuptials at Dragon’s Lodge, Gabriola Island, in British Columbia, Canada. From their atmospheric cliffside vows, and their al fresco feast to their dance party under the stars, this couple made the most of their stunning surroundings. Innocent Thunder Photography documented their special day, this one is bursting with inspiration for couples thinking of taking things outside for their wedding.
The couple met through mutual friends when they were show-shoeing, “Hailey was living in Hong Kong at the time. She came back to Canada that summer for school… and to claim my heart!" recalls Tom. "Both of us said that it was just a summer fling but it turned out to be the real thing.”
Tom took Hailey to a Christmas ferris wheel at the highest point of Vancouver to propose, "He waited until we were at the top and said he wanted to get a picture with the view, but instead of taking out his phone, he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him,” Hailey tells us.
What a spectacular backdrop for this pair to say their vows?
Pug Izzy makes the day even more cute!
Every couple has a list of priorities for their wedding day, we so asked Tom and Hailey what it was for them, “Our biggest priority was finding a spot for a weekend getaway on the water on the West Coast. We both love the ocean. We also didn’t want to go into debt.”
The couple tell us their wedding was a team effort, “Everyone pitched in and helped. The canoe full of wine was a classy touch too!” Agreed!
And their theme for the day? “West Coast and intimate. Our closest friends and family came together to create the perfect day.”
The bride and groom loved that Dragon’s Lodge Gabriola Island could be a home from home for all their guests across the weekend - that view wasn't bad either!
The newlyweds have a few words of wisdom to pass on, “At the end of the day, you’ll be married, and that’s all that matters. Don’t stress the small stuff!”
For their honeymoon, Hailey and Tom headed south, to Peru. We climbed mountains, had our minds blown by Machu Picchu, slept in the Skylodge, and sand boarded. It was amazing!” Hailey says, making us feel very jealous!
