Our Favourite Wedding Dresses of the Year 2019

Our real brides rocked some show-stoppers this year!

It's that time of year, when we take a look back at the highlights from the last 12 months. Yesterday, we brought you our real weddings of the year, and today, it's all about the One Fab Day team's favourite wedding dresses from 2019. This year treated us to some seriously stylish brides; some rocked colour, others wore trousers, a few opted for something vintage and many wore gowns from our favourite Irish bridal boutiques. While a lot of wedding dresses turned our heads in 2019, these are the pick of those we fawned over the longest - and still haven't quite recovered from!

Naoise, Managing Director

Naoise loved Holly's epic caped wedding dress for her cool Dublin wedding. The dress was from The White Gallery, paired with a Barbara Kosznik cape. Wild Things Wed photographed the day, see the wedding in full, here.

"What I love about Holly's wedding dress is the sense of true individuality in every element of her bridal ensemble - you know this is truly Holly being her best self, it shines through. I adore a strong sense of personal style, love a person who makes me stop and think WOW what a look."

Susan, Creative Director

Susan (and the rest of the team TBH!) was a little bit obsessed with Elaine's killer Rime Arodaky jumpsuit for her Dublin City Hall wedding. The day was photographed by Katie Farrell Photography, see the wedding in full, here.

"How could you not love Elaine's wedding day look? The sheer sleeves, the 3D floral embellishment, and that incredible train; her jumpsuit had to be the standout bridal look for me this year. She looked so relaxed, comfortable and happy in it too, which is always the mark of a great outfit."

Áine, Business Development Manager

Áine's favourite dress of the year was Ligia's timeless gown from The Bridal Venue for her refined Carton House wedding. Anna G Photography photographed the day, see the wedding in full, here.

"This dress for me was really elegant, I loved the sparkly embellishment on the back of the dress and the capped sleeves - the belt was the perfect accessory too!"

Orlaith, Account Manager

Orlaith was a big fan of Emma's Anna Georgina dress from Alice May Bridal for her chic winter wedding. The day was photographed by IG Studio Photography, see the wedding in full, here.

"I always love wedding dresses with long sleeves, and Emma's gown was so beautiful. What stood out for this one though was how well she styled it, particularly how it worked with her groom, Jamie's, cool pink suit."

Celina, Deputy Editor

Celina was entirely smitten with Martina's vintage yellow wedding dress for her chic Cork County Cricket Club weddingMcMahon Studios documented the day, see the wedding in full, here.

"I just had the best time writing about Martina's wedding dress - I must have been smiling the whole way through! It combines all the things I love about fashion - it's vintage (a party dress from the 1940s), it's sustainable (purchased pre-loved on Etsy), and, with its bold, sunflower yellow colour and timeless, wearable design, it breaks all the rules of bridal fashion! The retro headpiece was also an inspired touch!"

Karen, Editorial & Administration

The standout bridal look for Karen this year was Lindsay's traditional Indian wedding attire for her spectacular Ashford Castle weddingEpic Love Photography captured the day, see the wedding in full, here.

"When I first laid eyes on beautiful bride Lindsay, I gasped. Have you ever seen a more stunning lehenga? The colours, embroidery and embellishment, the level of design and detail is simply incredible, it just makes my heart sing! Not forgetting her gorgeous jewels, intricate henna and Badgley Mischka heels, a truly jaw-dropping bridal trousseau. Not only did Lindsay look incredible, her husband Miten and their little boy Rohan also wowed us in their coordinating attire."

Claire, Editor

Claire's year was pretty much made by Christin's crochet wedding dress by Reclamation, perfect for her Field of Dreams wedding in the woods. The wedding was photographed by Simple Tapestry, see the day in full, here.

"I love it when a wedding dress is indicative of the overall vibe of the wedding, and this cool crochet dress, with its free-spirited 70s feel, tied in perfectly with Christin and Gareth's romantic woodland ceremony and laid-back outdoorsy reception. This dress is a little bit of me, I only wish I'd found it first!"
