Our Favourite Real Weddings of the Year 2019

The weddings we'll be talking about long into 2020!

We feature real weddings almost every day here at One Fab Day, and 2019 treated us to some of our most cool, creative, personalised and unique weddings yet! We had a 70s garden party, a punting drinks reception, and an axe-throwing competition! We had couples who met as kids, couple who met in later life, LGBT couples, couples with children, and couples who were off to elope. And all this week, we'll be bringing you some of the highlights, starting today with the One Fab Day team's favourite real weddings of the year. There's no such thing as a 'perfect' wedding, these are simply the ones that have resonated with us this year - and that we'll likely still be swooning over, well into 2020!

Naoise, Managing Director

Naoise fell hard for Hailey and Carson's gorgeous Dingle elopement with a cliffside ceremony captured by Pawel Bebenca Photography. See the wedding in full, here.

"There's something so utterly romantic about an elopement - just the two of you running away together, making your vows to each other in perfect privacy, for me it's the epitome of old-fashioned romance. Hailey and Carson chose to do it in one of the most epic locations in Ireland, got beautiful weather and had a ball doing it. It's just pure love shining through from beginning to end. What can I say, I'm an old romantic."

Susan, Creative Director

Susan loved everything about Max and Caroline's impossibly stylish weekend-long wedding at Ballintubbert House, captured by This Modern Love. See the wedding in full, here.

"So I'm a bit biased about this one, because Caroline is my sister-in-law, but really it was one of the coolest weddings I've ever been too. The couple planned the wedding from Amsterdam, but the attention to detail was amazing, everything from the style, to the signage, to the cake was so creative. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful too!"

Áine, Business Development Manager

For Áine, our very first wedding of the year, Úna and Daryl's stylish bash in Mount Druid captured by Wedding Storytellers, was the standout celebration of the year. See the wedding in full, here.

"I loved the style of this wedding, her wedding dress and veil were amazing - that skirt! Úna and Daryl's wedding was truly unique wedding, there were beautiful décor touches throughout, the bridesmaids dresses were so pretty, and I loved how the couple didn't stop smiling all day. Just an overall cool wedding!"

Orlaith, Account Manager

Orlaith loved the style and the setting of Stephanie and Tom's gorgeous Spanish destination wedding in Nerja by Keisy and Rocky. See the wedding in full, here.

"Nerja is my favourite place so I was always going to love this wedding. I really liked Stephanie's dress, I can't believe her mam made it! She was such a glamorous bride - especially impressive that she was on a crutch, you wouldn't even notice!"

Celina, Deputy Editor

As a fan of elopements and small weddings, Celina was a big fan of Meegan and Harriet's beach ceremony in Margate captured by captured by Joanna Bongard Photography. See the wedding in full, here.
"What I love about Meegan and Harriet's celebration on the beach at Margate is that I honestly can't compare it to any other wedding I've seen! Between the seaside location, the colourful styling and the super-small guest list, it's truly exceptional. I'm equally in love with both brides' outfits, and the ceremony itself looks absolutely magical. Also, I can never resist a canine ring bearer!"

Karen, Editorial & Administration

Karen's stand-out wedding this year, was Margaret and William's elegant family wedding at Castle Durrow by Elouise Photography. See the wedding in full, here.

"I mean, just look at this lovely pair! Margaret and William's wedding stole our hearts from the very beginning. It looked to be such a wonderful celebration and I'm so glad we got to feature it on One Fab Day. It's not often we have the privilege to share a wedding featuring the couple's seven children and 16 grandchildren! From a Humanist ceremony and sushi canapés, to Margaret doing her own makeup and walking herself up the aisle, this modern pair decided to do their day, their way, and I love them for that."

Claire, Editor

Claire's favourite wedding this year was Helen and Donncha's flower-filled wedding at Inish Beg by Studio Brown. See the wedding in full, here.

"I found it so hard to choose a favourite this year, but I kept thinking about the flowers and decor for Helen and Donncha's wedding, the colours and styling were just so unique for me - Kristine Hayes Design did a phenomenal job. The couple themselves looked gorgeous, I loved both of their outfits (especially the bride's 'something blue' mani and foliage-heavy bouquet, and the soft colourful tones in the wedding party were fab. Oh and I love the story behind how these two got together as well. See, I could talk about this one all day!"
