Episode Breakdown: Episode 23: Wedding Lessons We Learned from the Movies

Wedding tip: This week, we're talking table plans! Claire's advising you to wait until the day before the wedding to finalise your seating chart or table plan display, or, even better, to make it editable!

Main topic: Our chat this week is all about wedding movies - the good, the bad and the just plain ridiculous! We begin by discussing our own favourite wedding-themed films - Stephen's pick is Four Weddings and a Funeral, Celina's pick is Muriel's Wedding, and Claire's pick is Bridesmaids. All three of these films are fun and frothy comedies, but we've managed to find a few golden nuggets of wedding-planning advice lurking beneath the surface. We'll also be dishing out wedding movie awards, including a Best Entertainer gong for the rapping Granny in The Wedding Singer (apologies to Liza Minnelli of Sex and the City 2 notoriety, remember that it's an honour just to be nominated!)

Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “We're having a Catholic ceremony and it's a serious amount of paperwork (that's a dilemma in itself), but the problem is that we don't have a local priest as we don't go to mass every Sunday, and just want a super nice sound guy who can marry us and the priest in the nearby church isn't fantastic. Are we going to have to go to a different church every Sunday and try and corner the priest we like? What's the etiquette? Or do we have to make do with a priest that may not exactly be our style?" In this episode, we're delivering an answer that the listener probably doesn't want to hear - no, you generally can't choose your priest according to their personality!

Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: Claire's recommendation this week is a great one - plan a one-on-one date with your parents and/or siblings.
