As backdrops go, the one you'll find in today's real wedding ranks pretty high. Cameron and Briana took their wedding to the incredible Mount Rainer National Park in Washington State, as they wanted to elope to the mountains for their big day. Featuring idyllic treescapes and plenty of warm orange tones, this collection of photographs is like something from a vintage postcard! And thanks to Sheena Shahangian Photography, we get to share it with you! We know you'll love it every bit as much as we do.
But let's go back for a moment to how it all started. "We met at Cameron's cousin's wedding but we didn't really start talking until six months later," Briana told us. "I messaged him about a video, because he is a videographer. We talked long-distance for three months and then had our first date in Colorado. This is where we actually met Sheena who went on to be our elopement photographer."
This pair set the tone for their wedding day by also keeping things low-key for their proposal. "Cameron had our son Beckett bring the engagement ring and asked me at our home in New York," Briana told us. "After doing long-distance for a few months, we decided to move in together in New York, where Cameron is from, to begin our new life together."
From the beginning, the couple knew they wanted their day to be an intimate affair with just them. "It was important to us that it was just us and that it was somewhere beautiful in nature that we could get dirty and adventure together," Briana explained. "All that mattered was for us to have our love story captured perfectly. Sheena helped us find the perfect hiking trail for the elopement ceremony and helped us navigate the permitting process in the park as well, which was so helpful!"
And that perfect hiking trail was the incredible Mount Rainer National Park. "We really wanted mountains and someplace different than we'd ever been," Briana explained. "We hadn't been to Washington State before so this seemed like the perfect adventure. When Sheena suggested Washington State and showed us some of the hiking trails in Mount Rainer, we knew that the park would be perfect for us!"
Their celebration fully embraced the beautiful outdoors while still feeling glamorous. "We wanted the magical mountain experience and that's exactly what we got," they said.
While this couple didn't have any guests at their wedding, they did rope some friends in to be a part of it. "We had our best friends there as our photographer and officiant - it was so special," Briana told us. "We also exchanged our vows in an atmosphere that really felt like us - we intentionally made our day super intimate."
We love the wedding portraits showing traces of mud on Briana's dress. Clearly, she wasn't afraid to embrace her surroundings!
Cameron and Briana have some great advice to share with couples who are thinking of eloping. "Choosing to elope can sometimes feel like a scary choice to make but trust us, you won't regret it," they told us. "We loved having a wedding day that felt like it was just ours. We could do what we wanted and didn't have to follow any strict wedding standards. Our day gave us the freedom to be us and I don't think we'd do it any other way. We loved eloping and if that's something you're considering too, don't be afraid to go for it."
Thanks so much to today's couple Cameron and Briana for sharing their incredible day with us and to Sheena Shahangian Photography for capturing the magic in the mountains.
