In the depths of winter, there's nothing better than an escape to sunnier climes, even a virtual trip - living vicariously through someone else's wedding is enough to dispel the winter blues for just a few moments. So we're offering you just such a magic carpet ride today with the wedding of Rachael and Steve in Malaga captured beautifully in reportage style by Jeremy Standley.
Rachael and Steve are based on the Isle of Man, but escaped to sunny Espana for their wedding with 40 of their nearest and dearest - and sure who could blame them, the pure blue skies and balmy weather in the South of Spain are quite the draw when you're gazing out over the grey Irish sea.
Style and comfort - I'm loving Rachael's silver wedges, so much comfier for a long day
Rachael's wedding dress is one of the most striking I've seen - the combination of lace with metallic sheen and bejewelled halterneck is perfect for the weather, but also hits that perfect note between modern and vintage that the couple employed as their overall wedding look...
Despite the distance from home Rachael and Steve were determined to put their own stamp on the wedding and diy-ed to the max adding lots of special touches as you will see...
The venue for both the ceremony and reception was The Lodge Ronda, a beautiful modern villa which is available for private hire sleeping up to 14. It combines all the luxury of a boutique hotel with the privacy of an exclusive rental...
Jeremy Standley's style of reportage photography perfectly captures all the quiet and intimate moments that happen throughout the day, especially those the couple aren't even aware of as they happen, but which bring such joy when they open the album for the first time...
Rachael and Steve really went all out with the handmade details - as Jeremy put it "Every last grape, wild flower, signage, right down to the lights strung above the dining area were created, transported and set up by them." That's a huge effort but it clearly paid off
One of the greatest reasons to have a wedding in Spain has to be the food and The Lodge Ronda has its own private chef so all of Rachael and Steve's guests were definitely in for a treat before hitting the patio to dance the night away...
Nom, nom, nom...
Congratulations to Rachael and Steve, we're honoured to feature your day.
And huge thanks to Jeremy Standley for sharing his beautiful images with us - if you're as impressed as we are make sure and check out his blog for lots more gorgeous weddings in Spain. And most particularly if you are considering getting married in Espana!
