We have a beautiful wedding for you today and it is even shot by the super talented photographer Magda Lukas - yay! The lovely couple that is Amanda and Fergal were wed last Summer in Louth and celebrated at The Millhouse with their family and friends. This wedding is jam packed with gorgeous little details from the flowers and the dress and they even had a sponge wedding cake. The happy couple spent a lot of time and effort on the small details even though lots of people say these things are not noticed we absolutely disagree! Amanda told us that the guests loved all of her little touches and we think they looked fab. In fact everything about this wedding is amazing so we better get started....

So how did the lovely couple meet? Amanda spills the beans for us. "We first met when we were 16 - my friend asked me to go with her to a nightclub where she was meeting a boy... my future husband! Our paths crossed a few times over the years and finally 5 years ago I was out for a friends birthday, we bumped into each other in a local nightclub and we were pretty much joined at the hip from then on!

And... how did he pop the question? "It was our anniversary and Fergal arranged a picnic in Ardgillan Castle. Along with our new puppy Sam we enjoyed a lovely picnic on a beautiful summers day. It was a perfect day - very low key and relaxed - very us! When we were getting ready to leave we the car keys were gone - we were caught up in the moment so didn’t realise our cheeky puppy had hidden our keys when he was playing on the long grass! It took us ages to find them but it made the day all the more memorable."

Amanda looks absolutely radiant in this photo. Judging by the size of that smile, she is one happy lady.

So why did they choose the Millhouse?  "We really wanted a laid back venue which would allow us to be creative with the food, the decor etc and The Millhouse gave us full control to make the day ‘ours’."

What was the overall vibe that the couple were hoping to achieve on their big day? "I always loved the more rustic country themes you see on US wedding blogs like StyleMePretty - so relaxed, informal and pretty - but we didn’t think such a venue existed so close to us. When we stumbled across the Millhouse we were over the moon, it was the only venue we visited as it ticked all the boxes for us. It had that rustic/country garden look so we decided to work our theme around that. We went for lots of peonies, daisies and wildflowers in the bouquets, church and venue. The flowers were central to setting the theme and both Liberty Flowers and Petite Fleurs understood exactly what we were looking for. The key colours were soft sage green and pink with some yellow accents. I collected lots of mismatched amber bottles, jars etc and lace for the centre pieces- I was blown away by the room when I saw it finished. We added a lot of small touches like a lemonade stand, a cake buffet etc to really add to the rustic theme."

The entire day was very laid back- everything from the menu ‘cumberland sausages and mash with red onion marmalade’ and ‘bacon butties for the after food to the evening where even people renowned for not dancing danced the night away!

We think it is great how the couple have created all of these little details to make their wedding unique to them. A lemonade stand is such a great idea and is different form the usual tea/coffee reception we are all so used to.

The amazing Amanda shows us that with the simple addition of a lace trim around a tin can or simple glass bottle, you can create romance and drama in a very cost effective way. Just  brilliant and oh so pretty.

What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "I had a very stressful run up to the wedding with a dress malfunction and my hairdresser pulling out the week of the wedding. On the day we decided nothing was going to annoy us. Both of us were so relaxed and happy and this had a knock on effect on our guests - so many people commented on how relaxed and fun it was. The bride and groom really set the tone and mood for the day - so smile, laugh and have fun and your guests will too!"

And was there a special moment that stands out from all the rest? "It's so hard to pick as we both spent the entire day smiling and laughing! I loved the recession in the church where we were walking back down the aisle as a married couple- it was really only then that it hit me that we were married! The speeches were also really special- both of us normally get a bit uncomfortable being the centre of attention but for that one day we loved it! The evening was also the most fun we’ve ever had- the Millhouse looks amazing at night with the fairylights on the trees outside and all of our guests were so relaxed and having such a great time."

Any last bit of advice for brides and grooms to be?  "We really debated whether or not to get a video. A few weeks before our wedding I stumbled across Best Day Productions and we were blown away by Roldolphe’s style and creativity. My husband hated wedding videos with a passion until he saw Roldolphes work- one of the best decisions we made was to book Rodolphe as we now have the most wonderful keepsake."

So there you go. I told you this was a gorgeous wedding. From the lovely lace centrepieces to those super sweet bouquets and of course we owe a big thank you to the stunning bride and handsome groom for giving us a sneak peak into their very special day. Of course a shout out has to go to Magda Lukas for sharing her work with us again. We always love a Magda wedding!
