Today's real wedding is right up my street! And if you have dreams of a stress-free and stylish wedding, I think it'll be right up your street as well. Irish bride Justine and her Argentinian groom, Rodrigo knew exactly what they wanted (and didn't want!) from their big day, and a relaxed barbecue party at Loughcrew Estate ticked all the boxes. Planned in just one month, with a mammoth effort from their friends and family, their wedding has cool style, pretty details, and a unique ceremony setting, all captured beautifully by Louise Scott Photography.
Justine & Rodrigo might be a pair of globe-trotters, but they still had a pretty classic crossing of paths, as Justine tells us, “Rodrigo had just made the move to Hungary from Argentina to work and I was studying in Budapest. We met in a crowded ruin bar and I fell for the accent!”
Justine's beautiful boho wedding dress was made by a family friend - isn't it just exquisite!
Budapest has remained a special place for the bride and groom, so it was a fitting backdrop for Rodrigo’s proposal, “We were visiting and enjoying a sun holiday. We were walking through our favourite park on Margit Island but I was sweating and feet were killing me but out of the blue Rodrigo got down on one knee,” says Justine. “Afterwards he said I didn’t say yes for an hour with all the crying and screaming!”
The couple had a feather motif running throughout the day, which started with Rodrigo's unique buttonhole.
Rodrigo designed all the stationery for the wedding himself.
The couple say they always wanted their wedding to be a relaxed barbecue party with only our closest family and friends, “We got married in a church ruin with no roof which set the relaxed outdoor mood for the weekend.”
A little rain made this atmospheric ceremony setting all the more special!
These two organised everything for their wedding in just one month! “From the moment we began to plan our wedding we wanted nobody to be hungry, delicious food, great music and flowing wine.”
Justine & Rodrigo were drawn to Loughcrew for its stunning scenery, the church ruin and the courtyard - and it's easy to see why!
The couple say it meant a lot to have their family and friends play such a huge role in preparing for the big day, as Justine explains, “Dad worked on making all the centrepieces, cake stands, signs, and candle holders. My aunt arranged all the flowers including mine and the bridesmaids bouquets, church and table flowers. My friend’s mum made all the bunting. A family friend made my dress and the bridesmaids. My jewellery was also handmade by a friend. The dessert table made by guests. Our families decorated the whole venue! We used Rodrigo’s late mothers scarf for our hand fasting which was really special.” Wow, talk about a dream team!
Justine & Rodrigo’s advice for planning a wedding? Know what you definitely don’t want! “We knew from the start what we didn’t want and so that narrowed our options considerably. Remember it is your day and you can only do so much to help people enjoy themselves. Don’t be stressed and you don’t have to do the traditional things.”
The couples' guests pulled out all the stops with their homemade dessert table!
The couple decided not to dash off on a long haul honeymoon, “We didn’t have much annual leave from our jobs and family and friends had travelled from all over the world to celebrate with us so we didn’t want to run off soon after the wedding. The week after with visited Nerja, Spain for a few days to relax in the sun.”
Looks like Roderigo and Justine's friends and family have some serious moves locked down!
Thanks so much to Justine & Rodrigo for sharing their laid-back wedding with us, of course to Louise Scott Photography for capturing all the fun!
