Last month we introduced a host of up and coming new Irish wedding venues, one of which was the lovely Lissan House - and so we're delighted to share with you today the Lissan House wedding of Colin and Sarah by Fraser Stewart. Letting the venue speak for itself Colin and Sarah kept things simple with a subtle lilac colour palette and a whole lot of smiles and giggles...
Colin and Sarah were in the same larger group of friends throughout uni, but it wasn't until four years later that they began to date. Sarah remembers..."We shared the same wider circle of friends but then Colin moved to England for work. It was about 4 years since we'd last seen each other when we bumped into each other at a wedding in 2012 and just hit it off straight away."
Smitten with the beautiful, and super smiley Sarah, Colin decided to propose. Sarah filled us in on their proposal story..."Well apparently I ruined his first attempt! We were at a fireworks display and Colin kept suggesting we should sit on this bench under an archway but it was cold and wet and I just wanted to go home. Thankfully, at another fireworks display a week later he plucked up the courage to try again, although he said the shock on my face looked more like horror and he was tempted to do a runner!"
For their chilled lilac wedding Sarah and Colin chose the beautiful Lissan House. Sarah describes what made it the perfect venue for them..."Lissan House is such a beautiful house, with so much history and character. It has a charm that just makes everyone who walks through the doors fall in love with it. Its not a museum though, its a place you feel at home and the staff really allowed us to make it our own on the day. They have such a passion for the house that is so infectious, and nothing was too much trouble. They built a bar for us in the sitting room that looked like it belonged there, gave guests guided tours after dinner and even let us cut the wedding cake with the family sword!"
Sticking to shades of pink and lilac Sarah's three bridesmaids wore floor length dresses from House of Fraser, while Sarah wore a classic wedding dress with dainty lace detailing. So pretty!
To get everyone in the mood for a proper house party Sarah and Colin organised a ceilidh band, which they were a little nervous about, but it all worked out wonderfully. Sarah recounts..."The Ceilidh band in the evening was the best! My family aren't big dancers, and my biggest fear was an empty dance floor but everyone gave it a go and had such a blast!"
Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your Lissan House wedding day with us all!
