Sharon & Cillian were married last Summer in Castledermot, Co. Kildare and celebrated in style at Ballykealey Manor Hotel. Despite a bit of a bumpy ride in the wedding planning department (more about that later), their wedding turned out perfectly due in no small part to their tremendous positivity & love.
Their wedding photographs are something to behold as the talented Mr Eric Savoie used a variety of techniques and effects to create a wedding album with a distinct difference. Behold the wedding of Cillian & Sharon...
A picture postcard perfect wedding portrait...
Sharon wore a lace wedding gown with slim straps, a subtle fishtail skirt and train from Midgely and Sottero. Her bridesmaid's gorgeous blue satin full-length gowns also came from Alexander's Bridal in Dublin.
A very calm and relaxed Cillian awaits his lady...
Sharon's favourite moment is one many brides can identify with...
Driving to the ceremony in the car with my dad and arriving at the church. He was really nervous and I had to slow him down when he charged up the aisle, obviously couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Being in the car finally made it a bit real as I hadn’t been particularly nervous and was getting a little too relaxed.
While the guests headed off for the drinks reception in Ballykealey Manor, Eric Savoie took the happy couple off "on location" for some beautiful wedding portraits..
Cillian & Sharon obtained permission to access the ruined abbey next to the church in Castledermot to start off the wedding portraits. Eric Savoie specialises in more relaxed informal wedding photography - getting the couple to have fun and enjoy themselves as opposed to stiff poses. Bringing Sharon and Cillian to a nearby meadow definitely had the desired effect. Sharon looks like she just plucked her bouque of sunflowers and delphiniums from the field that morning.
The couple celebrated their wedding reception at Ballykealey Manor Hotel - a tudor-gothic revival mansion turned country house hotel in Ballon, Co. Carlow.
Sharon and Cillian clearly thoroughly enjoyed their day and had special praise for Ballykealey Manor Hotel
We had originally booked another venue but 4 months before the day received a letter confirming they could no longer hold our wedding reception as they had gone into receivership. Letting us down with only 4 months to go, so we had to find a new venue…for a Saturday...in July…and Ballykealey Manor came to our rescue and just made everything happen.
So all's well that ends well.
The Best Advice You Have For Other Brides?
Take a breath and Don’t Panic!
The more you panic and worry about things the faster the day goes and you want to enjoy every last minute of it not remember it as a white blur that flew by. That’s one thing I’m very happy about, we refused to let anything bother/worry/upset/panic us, even when our original venue went bust!
We made a conscious decision not to let things get to us and not to stress about anything and it really made a difference. If things got a bit hairy, we reminded each other that we were not going to be bothered by anything.
Our thanks to Sharon & Cillian for sharing their day with us, so delighted you had such a fabulous day. Hope married life is treating you well!
