Royal Wedding fever is reaching epic heights and speculation is rife about everything from her dress to the honeymoon. Very little is really known at this stage - fair play to all involved, they should all be recruited by MI5 they're so good at keeping secrets. As soon as she trips down the aisle, the rush will be on to emulate her style, and everyone will want to know how to create the "Kate" look.
But for the moment we thought we'd take a little practical inspiration from the future Queen. Apparently she is being very sensible and avoiding "tripping" down the aisle by forgoing heels in favour of fabulous flat bridal shoes.
At 5'10" she doesn't need the height, and with 2 billion people watching she's probably right to err on the side of caution - noone wants to fall flat on their face on front of that unforgiving crowd (get me with the puns!) Anywhoo... we think she's dead right and you don't have to forgo style when you forgo heels as a bride - here are our picks of beautiful bridal flats...
First up are the fun ones - pretty, with lots of detailing these 3 come from the high street - Oasis offer glitter pumps with a lace and pearl floral embellishment for romantic bride. Miss KG have these pretty oyster satin and gold toe bridal ballerinas for Sloaney/classic bride. While Asos adds double bows to super shine metallic ballerinas for shiny bride.
For the funkier bride who wants to add a little kick (ha, ha, did it again!) to underneath her wedding dress Asos is brilliant for brogues - both these white leather brogues with odd laces or the little gold brogues which are like what tinkerbell would wear when getting married. Topshop is also brilliant for alternative footwear - there's the white leather Mary Jane style pumps with metallic detail or for a rustic bridal shoe- these crochet strapped pumps are very cute.
And finally we have the fabulous - the designer bridal flats that give a bride a little bling even without the heels. These Pedro Garcia white satin and diamante pumps are from Net-a-Porter. French Sole is the uber-shop of ballerina flats, with an enormous selection, of which classic white satin would be my choice. While Aruna Seth is a designer from London specialising in gorgeous bridal shoes and these Liana nude open-toe flats are the latest in her range.
