Our real wedding couple Julie and John celebrated their wedding in the heart of Co. Tipperary on Easter Sunday. The Kilshane House wedding was sprinkled with springtime simplicity of blooming florals, laughter and even chocolate eggs for the day that was in it! Photographer Ryan Devereux is behind the beautiful imagery and we are thrilled to showcase this beautiful day. Enjoy!
Several friends, from several different friend groups suggested Julie and John go on a date, six years before they got married. However, due to so-called stubbornness and life taking different turns, it never happened until one summer's day in July 2019. After they both had their fill of dating apps, they relented and went on a date. "Julie, very wary of dating, requested we go on a sober date to the Virgin Mary bar in Dublin. I kindly obliged and five hours of sober chats later, we both knew we were on to a good thing!" says John.
Some time into their relationship, and after a very stressful day of moving house, John told Julie they had one more box to unpack. A wrecked Julie climbed up the stairs unhappy to hear there was yet another box, only to find John at the top dressed in a suit on one knee holding out a little box with the ring in it!
Julie, our breathtaking bride dazzled in in a Jesus Peiro gown. The satin number showcased an elegant halterneck style and full skirt, and we love the belted detail at the waist. She completed her style with a vintage Hollywood wave upstyle along with gold statement bridal earrings and a bouquet filled with pastel roses and tuplips and other springtime blooms.
The whole wedding day took place in Kilshane House starting with the beautiful ceremony. The wedding aesthetic was completely inspired by the season, as well as Easter as the day took place on Easter Sunday. They explain: "We’re not huge fans of the traditional wedding design aesthetic, so we were thrilled our friend designed something really different for our printed items which we then used to inspire other colour trends and ideas."
A special moment during their ceremony was when Julie's lifelong friends, Sean Kennedy, a professional tenor performed Ch’ella Mi Creda Libero E Lontano, an amazing love aria. "People gave him a standing ovation and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was one of the best performances we’ve ever seen. Our hearts skip a beat even thinking of that moment" says Julie. The couple also opted for a handfasting ceremony, a symbolic unity ritual in which a couple stand face to face as their hands are tied together - hence the phrase, tying the knot!
The atmosphere at Kilshane House was a blend of a classy country setting and springtime cocktail party. The stunning 19th-century house, in the heart of Tipperary, sits on 320 acres of private parkland boasting many wonderful elements such as the Orangerie and the Conservatory. The newlyweds describe what made the venue the one: "From the second we saw it, we loved the botanical greenhouse. The wedding venue overall is stunning, but that room is a showstopper. We loved having our ceremony there!"
The stylish groom John was dressed a fabulous navy velvet tuxedo by Louis Copeland & Sons which was a super alternative to black. Julie and John's wedding priorities from the get-go were simple - a relaxed day where their guests could let their hair down and enjoy every moment. "We wanted a massive party feeling! We also wanted it to be as relaxed as possible and for everyone to have a great time. For us, that meant being very organised in the lead up to the day to ensure everything ran smoothly," they say.
Everybody got a chocolate surprise as a wedding favour! But just wait until you see the wedding cake display!
When it came down to providing wedding advice, the couple didn't hold back, they say: "Know it will always work out even if the pre-planning is stressful. We had such a gorgeous relaxed day thanks to all our friends and family who made sure we didn’t have to worry about a thing. One obvious one is to always have a contingency and more in the budget!" As for the honeymoon, they had booked to travel around Japan but due to travel restrictions, eneded up doing a luxury mini moon to Porto in Portugal. "It was the most perfect trip! We wouldn’t change a thing."
We would like to thank Julie and John, and well as photographer Ryan Devereux for sharing this gorgeous wedding day at Kilshane House with us all at One Fab Day.
