Our real wedding couple Jesika and David celebrated tying the knot with a fun and stylish day at the idyllic Ashley Park House in Co. Tipperary for their reception in the heart of the countryside. Immersed in acres of beech woodland and picturesque formal gardens, this couple celebrated their special day in style. Featuring a crisp neutral colour palette with pops of pastel hues and bright orange, thoughtfully personalised wedding favours and plenty of lawn games, this is certainly a wedding not to be missed! Let's get to know the happy couple a little bit more! While working as an air hostess with Emirates in 2016, Jesika had a layover on St. Patrick's Day in New York where her future husband David lived at the time. The pair had known each other from back home but had never met in person until then. Jesika was thrown in the deep end that night meeting all of David’s friends and joining them to watch Cheltenham the next day in an Irish bar! During the first few months of their relationship the couple did long distance between New York and Dubai and subsequently were long distance for a couple of years between New York and Dublin. "Thankfully we live in the same county now!" they say.
Fast forward to their engagement, David proposed unexpectedly during the height of lockdown while the couple were out on a walk together around their home at the time!
On the morning of their wedding, Jesika's bridal party, a stylish crew of seven, arranged letters for the bride to read from close family, themselves and of course David! "There was a lot of chill time in the morning when people are getting their hair and makeup done so I loved reading them throughout the morning."
Our glowing bride opted to wear a gorgeous mesh gown by Rue De Seine with abstract motif detailing, off the shoulder neckline and voluminous sleeves. Jesika paired her stunning bridal look with a bouquet of bright, colourful blooms and as a wonderfully sentimental touch, added a horse shoe charm from her grandmother's bracelet as her something old.
Jesika and David tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony in Our Lady & St. Patrick’s Church, in Puckane village in Co. Tipperary. During the ceremony, the couple's friend read a romantic excerpt from Dolly Alderton's Everything I Know About Love, which was their favourite reading from the day.
The spectacular Ashley Park House served as the location for the couple's elegant reception with its charming green wood paneled façade and surrounding natural landscape. For an extra personal touch, Jesika and David spent months writing out personalised messages for each guest on the back of their name cards which were propped up by corks collected by the couple and their friends since their engagement.
Perched on the shores of Lough Ourna, the idyllic surroundings of the country retreat provided the perfect backdrop to the couple's stunning wedding photoshoot. "The style of the house was very different, it’s like a big southern ranch on a lake which was different from other venues we went to see. We also loved that it was exclusive and majority of our guests could stay on site!"
Jesika's bridal party wore a chic ensemble of mix-and-match outfits from H&M and Asos in crisp, coordinating neutral shades.
From the outset of their wedding planning, Jesika and David prioritised having a fun, relaxed day. "Our priorities were to give people a good party, with great music and just a fun, lively day out!" In order to ensure their guests had a great time, the couple provided plenty of lawn games to entertain their guests including Jenga, connect four, hurleys and an American football. "My uncle Olan also made a personalised cornhole game; me as a kid in blue representing Dublin and a young David in his Meath jersey representing the Royal County.
The couple had this advice for those embarking on their own wedding planning journey: "Really enjoy every second, it goes by so quickly! Try and get the big stuff booked as soon as possible, like the venue, photographer, videographer etc. A lot of the last bits of arranging will need to be left until a month or two before the wedding but give yourself a deadline of two weeks before your wedding day to enjoy the build up with family and friends."
As a further personalised touch, Jeskia and David decorated the church and reception space with pictures of their friends and family, "to make it feel more personal and it was good craic for people to find pictures of themselves!"
The evening went on to include a buttercream cake decorated with macarons and gold leaf, plenty of speeches and a first dance to Tom Odell's Grow Old With Me. "The team in Ashley Park House were also really relaxed and the party continued until all hours in the morning back in the house after the marquee closed, which we loved!" Following the busy wedding festivities, Jesika and David have plans for a well deserved honeymoon travelling around Columbia.
