Today's London wedding is very simple, yet very special and I love each element - despite the minimal details, or lack of heavy styling. Alex and Barney got married in a small, intimate reception at Islington town hall with all the people they love there and no extreme or unnecessary fanfare. They did it their way, and had enough preparation undertook for their relaxed simple day to remain just that, and all captured by Lily & Frank Photography. It might have rained, it might have had some complications, there might not even be any wedding dress or invitations but Alex and Barney's wedding is most definitely One Fab Day.
This gorgeous couple met in a suitably casual way, and were one of those lucky few who turned a summer romance into long term love affair "We met on a surf camp in Portugal and swapped numbers and he actually called when we got back to London!" Continuing on with the theme of getaways Barney proposed to his bride to be cliff-side on a surprise weekend away.
I adore the chic London style of this London wedding, everything from Alex's nude nails to Barney's tailored Reiss suit is perfection.
Eager not to conform and to have the day they really wanted Alex and Barney chose Islington Hall in the heart of London to say their vows. Both from the area the choice suited them down to the ground.
Instead of any fuss or fancy frills what made this wedding so special was the people there and the effort each person made to get there. Many guests came from as far away as Australia - a gesture both thoroughly appreciated, and a reminder of what really is important on the day.
It's official! Now time for some portraits and a swanky soiree...
I am in love with Alex's bridal white jumpsuit - it is so effortlessly stylish and she has accessorised it so well, with a statement red lip, pretty floral crown and barley there COS acccessories. Our own Karen loves this look too and has featured the lovely Alex in our recent bridal trousers inspiration post. I want every element, and it's clear Barney is just as impressed!
If only we could all make an umbrella look so chic...
For the reception the party stayed in Islington, in a local neighbourhood pub with delicious food and plenty of good wine.
Not omitting all the traditional details, Alex and Barney opted for subtle little mason jar flowers and table numbers with a plain bold graphic design. A sucker for good font, these are just my style.
The cake also wasn't forgotten and local baker Pam Ashdown did good with this chocolate and fruit towering creation of goodness.
Overall Alex and Barney had the day just as they wanted, with lots of laughter, warmth and simplicity. To round off the night friends who had travelled from afar delivered the speeches completing the night with a touch of sentimentality.
If you're planning a similar style wedding Alex and Barney have some helpful hints and tips "Even if you want to be relaxed, it still needs to be organised and everyone needs to know their roles. Also to get all the details of the reception and any discussions in writing.."
Warmest congratulations to Barney and Alex, hope you both have a lifetime of happiness!
