Lighting Up The City: Aedín & Anita's Colour Pop Wedding

Bright, bold and beautiful!

Today, we're bringing you details of a real wedding that's drop-dead gorgeous, and is all about bringing a pop of colour to the city, a stunning concept from Aedín and Anita! The couple decided to marry in Dublin City Hall and held their reception at Brother Hubbard North, where they celebrated with friends and family. With radiant reds, baby blues and the presence of bright sunflowers, their colour palette was both beautiful and memorable. The photographs of their Dublin City Hall wedding were taken by the talented Wild Things Wed, and we just love the result! See for yourself!

So first things first, we had to ask the gorgeous couple how they met because, as you know by now, we're always keen to hear a good love story! Aedín and Anita had their first date in Dublin, first meeting at the Spire, and we are told this was because, "Aedín's sense of direction left something to be desired". However, once they got to Wigwam of their date, sparks flew, and they very quickly knew they had found the one!

Anita's gorgeous bridal shoes were from ASOS. We just adore the pearl detailing and classic, pointed toe!

When the time came to propose, these two lovebirds both popped the question at the same time, on Clogherhead beach near their home in Drogheda. They had originally planned a trip away to pop the question but, due to Covid-19, the plans were changed and they didn't want to wait any more. They tell us, "we found a lovely spot on the beach and having wanted to for so long, we exchanged our rings, both of them completely different, just like ourselves."

The couple chose to wed at City Hall, which is steeped in history. They filled the space with fresh flowers to give a boho feel to the day, and brides wore real flowers in their hair too! This couple really wanted the day represent them, so they ditched some traditions, and had their mothers walk them down the aisle!

How gorgeous do these gals look on their big day!? Their gowns compliment each other beautifully, don't you think!?

The couple loved their photographs, saying, "our aim was candid photos, full of colour, laughs, city lights, traffic and a general buzz of people, places you would never see a bridal party! One of the highlights of the day for us was walking through Temple Bar and surrounding streets with onlookers congratulating us!"

Their reception was held at Brother Hubbard North, and we just love the quirky newspaper animal prints, combined with the bright and beautiful sunflower arrangements. The couple told us that it had a special meaning to them as, "it was one of the first places we went as a couple for brunch!"

When we asked Aedín and Anita for their top tips for couples planning a wedding, they had this to say; "Ditch the traditions of usual weddings if they don't fit your style. We had an all-female bridal party, we both did a speech, we had our first dance to Betty Davis Eyes in Dublin City Hall, and a beautiful restaurant reception. A wedding is one of the most personal things as a couple you will do, so make sure it's the day you want, and not other people."

The couple are planning a minimoon to the West of Ireland this year and a, "big, blow-out honeymoon" next year to Santorini or Siciliy!

A huge thank you to Aedín and Anita for sharing their stunning Dublin City Hall wedding with us and of course to Wild Things Wed Photography for these amazing shots! There are more gorgeous images for you to swoon over in the gallery below!
