Today, we bring you a rustic bohemian dreamland of a real wedding from Aoife and Jack. This lovely couple chose to wed in Burtown House and Gardens in Kildare surrounded by the people they love the most, as well as some stunning land and forestry! Packed with personal touches, poetry and rustic charm, this wedding is one for the books, and a great example of what the power of love and family can achieve, even in a pandemic! The beautiful images of this Burtown House wedding were captured by Livia Figueirdo so let's get ready to swoon!
What a stylish pair! How incredible are the appliqué florals on Aoife's Beba's wedding dress!?
Aoife's hair for her big day was absolutely gorgeous - her sleek curls were created by Claire Barry hair stylist.
Aoife's beautiful oversized bouquet was created by Wild Feather Event Styling and we just love it!
So first and foremost, we had to ask these two how they met! Jack tells us, "We matched on Tinder shortly after Aoife had relocated from Australia. However, Aoife initially rebuked my advances to meet up as we had mutual friends that might cause awkwardness." Then, about six months later, while in Drogheda on a night out with one of the mutual friends, he decided to chance his arm and text her again! "It eventually led to our first date in Cassidy’s in Dublin a week later, on the 28th of November 2015. The rest is history."
Jack tells us he proposed in a private setting which was just perfect for the couple. Back in 2019, Jack had booked a surprise weekend away in the bubble accommodation in Finn Lough, Fermanagh. When Aoife returned from getting her hair done, Jack had 'Marry Me Aoife' spelled out in candles in their sitting room, surrounded by photos of their journey as a couple. They used the images to create a book where the last page had a picture of the candlelit 'Marry Me Aoife'! They used it to share the news with their families, and recorded all their reactions in a video! This is possibly our favourite and most creative proposal ever!
The elegant gardens gave this Burtown House wedding a truly timeless, garden-party feel!
When it came to location, Aoife and Jack chose the Burtown House because of its laid back-charm and organic vegetable garden! Jack tells us they were also sold on "the incredible décor in The Green Barn restaurant.". He says, "this, added to the vast expanses of the gardens at the venue, and the diversity of locations on site for photographs and different settings for reception drinks, food and dancing all added together to make it perfect for us."
In a gorgeous gesture, Jack wrote poems for each individual guest at the wedding, and the couple say that their friends and family still talk about how sweet it was to this day!
Jack tells us that they had originally set a date for June 23rd, 2020, but, due to Covid-19, they had to postpone. In the end, they got to have 25 guests instead of six and were over the moon. They chose to have a dinner the night before, which eased any butterflies and brought the whole family together. Jack tells us, "Although we were missing our respective best friends, Ciara in New York and Kevin in Dubai, we had the support of the other most important people in the world to us. It was great to get everyone together over the three days and made everyone more relaxed and thankful for simply being together."
Jack tells us that his advice for engaged couples is to simply enjoy the day and make it about you as a couple! "I was given a fantastic piece of advice by my best friend Kevin, 'you postponed your wedding for your friends and family, enjoy this rescheduled day for yourselves.' I would say try your best to make the day your own. Your own styling, we wrote our own readings for the ceremony and we had all the music, games and meals we had dreamed of."
Music on the night was provided by The Cazettes who the couple highly recommend!
Jack tells us the couple had planned a honeymoon to Seychelles and South Africa for July and August 2020 but in the end, "we had to settle for a four-week Irish road trip from Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Donegal. We had an amazing few weeks with the added bonus of meeting friends who couldn’t make the wedding along the way. The weather in July really added to it and we felt so lucky that restrictions had been lifted sufficiently for us to enjoy the experience fully." It sounds just magical!
A massive thank you to Aoife and Jack for sharing their Burtown House wedding with us. A special mention also goes to Livia Figueiredo for sharing these incredible images! There are more to swoon over in the gallery below!
