Everything about today's Marlfield House real wedding by Louise Scott Photography was simply meant to be. Just like their respective parents Sarah and Wayne met and fell in love as teens, and once they got engaged happened to pick the very wedding venue their families always privately thought would be perfect for them. On the wedding day events ran seamlessly - from the surprise (and incredibly impressive) DIY cake table, to the perfectly lit portraits and fine dining cuisine...
Sarah and Wayne's parents met a young age, so when Sarah and Wayne met at 16 and fell in love they knew it was quite possible they'd be together forever. Sarah remembers..."We were teenage sweethearts and met when we were 16. It’s an unsettled argument as to who made the first move but from then on we have been inseparable. Both our parents met when they were young so we have continued the tradition." After growing up together and falling more and more in love, Wayne proposed on the morning of Sarah's 30th birthday. Sarah recalls the touching moment..."I came downstairs to flowers, a card, balloons and champagne. Inside the card was a love poem that Wayne had written. I read it out loud and when I got to the end I looked up and Wayne was on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes straight away, by then we were both crying!" Even before Sarah and Wayne got engaged Sarah's parents had visited Marlfield House and thought that it might be the perfect wedding venue for them some day. Sarah tells us..."My parents had stayed in Marlfield House before over the years and had said to themselves that it would be a wonderful place for us to get married in years to come. The first time we came to visit Marlfield House was all it took and we picked our date straight away. Afterwards when my parents told us that they had imagined our wedding there we knew it was a sign that we had made the right choice." How amazing is this homemade wedding cake table? All baked and styled by Sarah's talented cousin Penny. The exquisite food and exclusivity of Marlfield also played a role in making it the perfect wedding venue. Sarah recalls..."The fact that we had the house to ourselves and our guests was amazing and we loved that it was not the traditional function room layout. Once we saw the beautiful gardens we could imagine having our drinks reception there, our dinner in the gorgeous conservatory restaurant and then our party and dancing throughout the house. The exceptional quality of the food was another major factor that was very important to us. We also loved the fact that there was another restaurant with a beautiful terrace overlooking the gardens where we could have a barbecue the next day to continue the celebrations." To style their elegant venue Sarah and Wayne chose a palette of pale green and white which was incorporated into the bridesmaid dresses, the flowers and wedding day decorations. Sarah gushes..."We knew that we wanted a theme of green and white and that we wanted to incorporate a lot of our own touches so throughout the year before the wedding we spent hours thinking of ideas and myself and my mam got all the decorations that we used on the day. My dad handpainted all the frames that were used to hold the table names in the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses. He also painted the frames for the love poems that we displayed throughout the house including Wayne’s proposal poem. My very creative bridesmaid Maeve made and decorated the beautiful table plan in the same green and white colours as our theme." The lush grounds of Marlfield House were also used for Sarah and Wayne's wedding portraits with Louise Scott, with the most beautiful results... A huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding and story with us all. A big thank you also goes to Louise Scott for sharing her work with us.
