Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Ashley's grandmother provided her handkerchief as something old and borrowed, whilst Ashley's sister lent her blue earrings. Her fabulous wedding dress was of course her something new.

On September 25th, 2021, childhood sweethearts Ashley & Brian became one in their hometown of Kansas City. Brian, who was Ashley's first ever crush, recalls the day he took her breath away all over again. "Unfortunately, in 2018, our dads' mutual friend’s son passed away and we both attended his visitation. Brian didn’t see me but I saw him from a distance and he still took my breath away. I didn’t get to speak to him but my sister had the opportunity to chat with him and he asked how our big family had been – and she nudged him and said 'Ashley, she’s doing great!' Brian took that as a sign to reach out, and after several dates, Brian made Ashley "his girl!"

Skip forward to one Saturday in lockdown when Brian asked Ashley on a romantic picnic. "As I locked up the front door, Brian was walking in front of me and then he stopped and turned around and handed me a piece of paper that he'd saved, on which I'd written my first name with his last name from early on in our relationship. He asked if I remembered it and I was confused about what exactly it was. He got down on one knee, and pulled something else out of his boot – and that’s when I realised what he was doing. 'Ashley, I love you and I want to make that paper official and make you Ashley Grosdidier... will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?' At that moment he opened the ring box and I saw the ring and I still couldn’t believe he was proposing to me," says Ashley.

As the scorching September sun glistened over their special weekend, Ashley and Brian's priorities were showcasing their love story and the importance of family. "Being able to show our uniquely strong bond that we each have with our parents. We also wanted to discuss the intimate moments, such as our love story being told at the beginning of the wedding ceremony, and the story of our family's long history together," they reveal.

Glowing in gorgeous green! The ladies wore a flattering selection of emerald A-line dresses with varied necklines. The gentleman complemented the style thanks to their dapper black tuxedos and high-shine shoes. Paired with loose curls, fluffy ivory florals, and warm embraces.

Ashley radiated happiness. Her satin sheath gown and embellished waistline speak to elegance and simplicity. The lace trim lining the veil is a nod to her theme, however, keep reading to see how this couple incorporated a modern twist to their classic wedding style.

Arriving in style, a classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro whisked the newlyweds to the unique repurposed warehouse wedding venue. The banquet space showcased a unique industrial-chic style with vaulted ceilings, original exposed brick walls, and a gorgeous rooftop where the couple captured their sunset shots. Ashley explains what made The Abbot the one: "The look and feel of it had so many elements that we loved. The reception venue had its own unique ambiance which we coined industrial glam. The reception venue combined brick walls, concrete floors, and large exposed metal rafters with huge chandeliers, state of the art sound system, and freshly renovated bathrooms and bars that rival any fancy hotel. It also had an amazing large rooftop patio which overlooks downtown Kansas City and allowed us to capture some amazing photos while the sun was setting."

An array of voluminous ruscus greenery, white roses, and hydrangea draped through the top table and across the brick walls, introducing colour, texture, and romance to the blank canvas. They chose a mixture of three gold accent centrepieces throughout the guest tables. Tall gold geometric stands dressed with neutral floral arrangements created height, whilst the tiered tea lights created intimacy. The gold charger plates were the perfect addition to marry the theme together.

Ashley and Brian provide us with some great advice when planning your dream wedding, they say: "Find a photographer that you love like we did to capture all the moments. It goes by in the blink of an eye and having photos to look back on brings back all the amazing emotions you experience on your most special day. And lastly, be patient with yourself and know that everything will come together – it always does."

The happy couple concluded their night with a private last dance with each other, but we can see these two dancing the years away together. A very special thank you to Ashley, Brian, and The Bold Americana for sharing this magical warehouse wedding with us.
