Meadhbh and Rob took a very relaxed approach to their wedding, booking their venue and photographer and letting the rest slip into place. The result was a simple and pretty rustic affair in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, at Ballybeg House. A super intimate venue, it almost feels like Meadhbh and Rob had their wedding at home - albeit a picturesque home, surrounded by mountains and never-ending gardens. The day was captured perfectly by In Love Photography.
Meadhbh and Rob originally met by chance at Roskilde, Denmark. Both at the same open-air music festival with their respective bunches of friends, one rainy night Meadbh took shelter in Rob's tent and hasn't looked back since.
For their proposal this pair of globetrotters had just returned from a trip to Peru. Eager to truly surprise Meadhbh, Rob had waited until they were back in their apartment in Ireland before dropping to one knee over breakfast.
For both Meadhbh and Rob one of the most special parts of the day was meeting at the church. " I think for both of us meeting at the church was a definite highlight. We were both so nervous! I had been relaxed all morning but when I started walking up the aisle it all just hit me." To add an extra special element to the ceremony Meadbh's aunts and friends got involved and provided the music "My amazing Aunt Miriam O’Sullivan played the flute and chose the pieces, another Aunt Joan O’Sullivan and a friend Una Mulkerrin sang and Cormuin Ó’ Rathallaigh played the organ."
Once it was official Meadhbh, Rob and the wedding party hightailed it to Ballybeg. Having been to the venue many times before, Meadbh and Rob were convinced and didn't look at any other possible venues in the run up to the wedding.
The pretty matching bridesmaid dresses were found at Debenhams, complimented with simple updos and accessories.
The décor and signage was kept equally simple and was put together with the help of family and friends. "All of our families were a great help in the run up to the wedding. We had a few Sunday’s in Rob’s Mom and Dad’s folding booklets and tying ribbons. Once everyone was helping we had a bit of fun. We had extra special help from my bridesmaid Aisling and Rob’s mate Paddy who designed the invites for us."
Making the most of their scenic venue Meadhbh and Rob took to the gardens for some pretty portraits with photographer Wim.
After an outdoor drinks reception Meadhbh, Rob and their guests headed indoors, which was decorated with some sentimental touches and old family photos.
Adding in a bit of personality Meadbh and Rob used places they've visited as their table names. For some table name inspiration have a look at our 34 Brilliant Wedding Table Name Ideas.
Planning an utterly stress free day, Meadbh and Rob have some advice to help you achieve the same "Just make sure to enjoy the run up over the last few weeks and try not to get stressed, it’s so exciting, and everyone is delighted for you, it’s such a special time."
For their honeymoon Meadhbh and Rob took a mini-moon at home to Monart followed by Marrakech, and then Vietnam/Cambodia for a month in the Summer. How amazing does that sound? Huge congrats guys, we wish you all the best!
A big thank you also goes to the lovley Wim of In Love Photography (who's own gorgeous wedding we recently showed!) If you'd like to see more of Wim's work head over to www.inlovephotography.ie
