Sandrine and Fergal originally had their hearts set on a no fuss, restaurant wedding but once they visited Trudder Lodge they fell in love. Embracing their scenic surroundings Sandrine and Fergal hosted a laid back, casual and super colourful outdoor wedding all captured by the lovely Leanne Keaney to inspire you today...
Originally from Luxembourg Sandrine first met Fergal on a trip to Dublin. She told us..."Fergal is from Cork originally, but living in Dublin for the last 15 years. We met in 2006 in Dublin while I was visiting with a friend and stayed in touch on a regular basis. A year later we started going out and then I moved to Dublin."
To propose Fergal took his beautiful bride-to-be on a surprise trip to Austria. Sandrine remembers..."I was packing my suitcase the day before thinking I was going to Cork over the weekend to support Fergal at a run. We even argued as I didn’t want to go so early in the morning and was considering getting a lift from a friend later that weekend instead. He proposed in a palace garden on a hill overlooking Vienna sitting in the grass and enjoying the view."
Originally Sandrine and Fergal thought they might have a small restaurant wedding, but once they saw Trudder Lodge they fell in love. Sandrine recalls..."Fergal booked a viewing at Trudder Lodge and we both were sold on the house straight away. We loved the idea of having an onsite wedding and big kitchen where we could just stay for a few days and have things organised our way. It was like having our own, bigger, house over the weekend to host and spoil our guests."
The humanist ceremony was held in the gardens with DIY decorations hanging from the trees and colourful chair decorations. Sandrine recounts us the details..."We are both not big into being the focal point of the day and we wanted a short ceremony (it was a humanist wedding). We got a few friends to read a few lines (poems etc) in English, French and Luxembourgish which made it very personal and included friends and family into the wedding. The ceremony was very relaxed and the humanist spoke a few words in French for my parents (as their English is not great), which was great. It was the perfect location and my brother and Fergal’s friends helped with decorating the trees. I loved that people were standing and sitting around."
Keeping the rest of their wedding equally simple and chilled Sandrine bought her dress second-hand, the flowers were bought from the flower market and an alternative cheesecake was put together using store-bought cheeses from Avoca.
Other than having a good time, food was the top priority. Sandrine recalls..."Our caterer was Andrew Holmes Catering, they were fantastic, Andrew was great and people praised the food so much."
A big congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all! A big thank you also goes to Leanne Keaney for sharing her work with us. To see more from Leanne Keaney visit www.leannekeaney.ie
