Episode Breakdown: How to Find the Perfect Wedding Venue
Wedding tip: Claire's tip this week is to remember (or ask a wedding party member to remind you!) to take off your veil, headpiece, sunglasses and/or eyewear for some of the photos. That way, you'll have lots of options in the final set of imagery.
Main topic: This week, we're talking through how to find your wedding venue, including what you need to know before you commence your search, how to put together your longlist, what questions to ask during your viewings, and what points to nail down before taking the plunge. We'll also be explaining the basic styles of venue, covering hotel and resort venues, exclusive hire venues, marquee weddings, pub and restaurant venues and those wacky wild card venues that you've seen on Pinterest!
Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “I am German, living in Ireland, and we are looking to have a small wedding in Malahide since we connect so much with the place. We are having 12 guests for the ceremony and dinner, with more people coming for drinks afterwards. We’re wondering how to break the news to some friends in Germany and the USA who won’t be invited. The main reason we’re not inviting them is because we feel that asking friends to travel and not invite them to the ceremony or dinner would be rude. We’re worried about how they might react, particularly when they hear that we have lots of Irish friends coming to the drinks after the meal.” Our advice for this listener is send a carefully-worded email to your friends in Germany and the USA to let them know about your plans, and consider planning a small get-together with them some time in the future.
Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Claire's suggesting you form a roast dinner club with your pals.
