With so many gorgeous bridal designers, boutiques and pretty accessories available these days, we often get caught up in all things pretty and sometimes forget about the other aspects of the day. All we can think is 'dress dress dress' and brides tend to leave the grooms accessories until the last minute. However, here at One Fab Day HQ, we think he deserves something special and a little bit different from the dowdy, old groomswear we are used to. Today we will be concentrating on the wonderful world of wedding ties and in particular lovely summery ones!
A little bit of inspiration to get us started before we head off on our tie travels...How dapper do these guys look? This fun and casual look was shot by Brittany Lauren Photography and featured over on Style Me Pretty. And how about the funky floral number? This fun tie was spotted on Martha Stewart Weddings captured by Jacob Pritchard. Now, let's get started!
If you are having a Summer wedding, this yellow spotted silk tie from Drakes London for £95 would be so bright and cheerful. If your groom is a bit wary of wearing pink, why not break him in gently with this fab blue and pink tartan cotton tie for €64 from J. Crew. It is less 'out there' than some of the other patterns available and would also bring a splash of colour to a Summer wedding. We love the rustic feel to the brown and white gingham linen tie from Bow Tie and Cotton on Etsy for just €23.50. It is casual and laid back but we think it would look great amongst other Autumnal colours. The trendy navy-blue linen, skinny tie from APRIL LOOK on Etsy for €58 would be great for a young and casual back garden style wedding and would look slick with a sharp grey suit.
If your groom is happy to don pink then why not deck him out in this gorgeous pink striped silk tie from Gieves and Hawkes for £50. And if he is REALLY comfortable in pink (everybody knows real men wear pink anyway) why not suggest this shabby chic, floral number from Swagger and Swoon for a very reasonable £29.99. If you didn't envision seeing your man at the top of the aisle decked out in florals then stick to more masculine blues and greys like the light blue striped cotton tie from Stalward Ltd. $72 or maybe for a vintage vibe why not try the teal knitted silk tie from Richard James at Mr. Porter €83.50.
This last selection is a mix of everything, from plain to patterned and everything in-between. Maybe a pink floral tie is too much for your Mr but he might be happy to sport a blue and green floral tie like the one available from Good Heavens on Etsy for €27. If you like bold patterns and bright colours, try the purple gingham tie from Marcello Neckwear on Etsy for €35 or this wild polkadot number from Forage for $78. Your groom might hate brightly coloured ties and wants to steer clear of them and that is a-ok with us so why not try this vintage-chic knitted silk tie by Nick Bronson available at Liberty London for £40.
