This morning we bring you a little fun in the form of a vintage fashion shoot inspired by the 1920s, the golden age of flappers, jazz and of course The Great Gatsby. So if you're a fan of glamorous dressing up and looking for a bit of inspiration for where to pick up some vintage finds, this will be right up your street. Through this shoot, stylist Sarah Conneely introduced us to a range of vintage treasure troves around Galway, now we're dying for our next trip out West for some siopadoireacht! Sarah's partner in crime on the shoot is photographer Julia Puchovska from Wonderfulife Productions, and we're delighted to feature this dynamic duo's collaboration - hope you're inspired!
It turns out this was a bit of a labour of love for Sarah and Julia, they explained their inspiration: "We both share a love for the jazz age so we were only delighted when Baz Luhrmann's recent adaptation of The Great Gatsby came out in the cinema and refreshed our love for all things related to the roaring twenties. Along with a brilliant Galway team we created a fashion shoot using sustainable and ethical clothing from some of Galway's hottest boutiques such as Portobello, Sirona, Public Romance and Cotton face Vintage. Evoking all the glamour romance and affluence of the 1920's and a style worthy of one of Gatsby's parties. The shoot took place on two amazing Galway locations - The Skeff Bar and St Jude's B&B."
This 1920's shoot was created with ethical and sustainable fashion in mind. E&S is very versatile and stretches to vintage, recycled, reused and ethically made pieces. Galway is caught up an ethical and sustainable fashion current at the moment. Galway has the ultra cool Public Romance - a vintage anchor store, as well as monthly showcases like Pandora’s Box where one is sure to find inspirations and bargains. Pre-owned fashion boutique Portobello is the place to go if looking for something special at a fraction of the price. The city also boasts one of the only ethical boutiques in Europe, Sirona, where you will find ethical designer labels like Ada Zanditon, Noir and Edun as well as Irish designers Manley, Lisa Shawgi, Lisa Ryder and Natalie B Coleman.Controversial as it is, Vintage fur falls under E&S and I have used some in this shoot. The silver fox coat from Portobello would look and feel amazing on a winter bride.
