From retro props to handmade DIY décor, a beautiful marquee and a location that would put Body & Soul to shame, Tina and Dave's wedding at Glengarriff Lodge is not to be missed! It's no surprise to us that it was a celebration of creative minds as Tina owns the gorgeous Amity Boutique in Cork! Between herself, her Mum and her groom to be a festival wedding was born. Prepare to be over come with creative craftiness and beautiful style as we take a look at the photographs captured by Campbell Photography...
Tina and Dave have known each other since they were kids, but it took a Christmas in October to get the two together... I moved abroad to work in San Francisco, and while I was home visiting some 8 years ago, my Mum threw a Christmas party in October, just so I wouldn’t miss the real thing! For the occasion, Mum asked Dave (who was already like family to us at the time) to dress as Santa, sparks definitely flew on the night and the rest is history! Too funny, well done Santa!
However when it came to the proposal Dave decided not to use any costumes, opting instead to place the ring in the brickwork of the extension the couple were building at the time... Unfortunately I’m as blind as bat and walked past it with my measuring tape about 20 times until the poor fellow had to actually take it out of its carefully placed brickwork and hand it to me, as if his nerves weren’t bad enough!
You are just getting to see a glimpse of Tina's beautiful dress here, but isn't it gorgeous so far? I just love the ruched flowers across the waist. Tina is super creative and it's no surprise as she owns her own boutique, Amity Boutique, which stocks beautiful vintage finds, so the style stakes were high on the day, but of course she stole the show!
Dave and his groomsmen were looking smart and we can begin to see the start of this retro day through their mustard ties, leather button details and tweed suits! Not to mention that bright orange VW Van that is ready to transport the boys to the ceremony...drink up lads!
So if you haven't guessed already Tina and Dave planned a colourful retro inspired celebration. They turned their wedding into a weekend festival and gave their guests cute 'weekend passes' on arrival at the church!
The couple said I do in St James Church surrounded by family and friends.
These two are a match made in style heaven! We love a stylish groom and Tina is boho bride meets vintage chic all in one! Did you see her blush pink veil? Such a fun pop of colour!
When it came to deciding on the venue Glengarriff Lodge stood out from the crowd. Elements like the amazing thatched roof cottage in the middle of the woods and the fact that the venue lent itself perfectly to the retro festival theme sealed the deal. Venue chosen it was all handles on deck to get just the right decor for the day and that's where Tina and her mother, Loretto, took care of business - wait till you see what they found!
It doesn't get more retro than a teal and mustard camper with a white picket fence, what an amazing set up! Everything about today's wedding screams cool and fun each prop and decor item sets up a scene creating a brilliant atmosphere.
Along with the retro finds, Tina and her mum gathered up-cycled materials to use for outdoor seating areas adding flowers and cushions to the rustic look.
Daisies and babys breathe flowers can be see through the day in Tina's head-piece and the bouquets, shown here by the boys!
How very festival chic, a VW van finger print guest book, festival style signage and a tableplan made out of logs and wooden arrows!
The marquee was a blank canvas for Tina, Dave and all the helpers. Starting with the top, Tina and her mum made the gorgeous vintage fabric lampshades that hung from the marquee ceiling, they were perfect to carry the retro theme through the space and they're even available in the bride's shop, if you're in the market for one!
Following the retro festival theme, the pair source many different pieces to decorate the marquee and each piece came to good use, be it a sweet table display, seating area or mini vanity area for the ladies (and gents!) They also covered bean tins in material for the flower vases and handmade napkins using retro fabric. If that wasn't enough they even handmade a photo booth for their guests to use during the night. Phew, I'm exhausted that is a unbelievable amount of work, well done!
Mustard and yellow elements gave the decor a real pop of brightness and you can see the two colours coming through in the flower displays, table cloths, straws and beautifully customized Mr and Mrs drinking jars!
While it was a lot of work, Tina said she really enjoyed the time she got to spend working on the projects with her mother... I have to say, this was the most amazing and special time spent with my Mum.
Tina and her mum weren't the only ones working on the wedding, though, it was a total DIY effort from everyone. Tina filled us in... Friends and family all chipped in and worked so hard to set up the marquee, friends made bar counters, they sanded doors to turn into tables, signs, photo booths, some made bunting and picked flowers, the list goes on and on!
Groom Dave was never far from helping out with all the bits and pieces, but he did keep one surprise up his sleeve and saved it for his speech to unveil it to Tina... Dave had been living in the States with work for the last two years and wasn’t due to move home until after Christmas. He took it upon himself to surprise me in his speech by saying he was home for good! It was such an amazing moment that everyone was emotional and the tears were flying! How romantic!
Tina's advice to couples planning their own wedding day is very simple...Don’t get stressed, it’s only one day and as long as all your family and friends are around to support you that’s all that matters. Take time to enjoy every minute!
Congratulations, Tina and Dave and thanks for sharing your special day with us! A big thank you goes to Campbell Photography for sharing their work with us at One Fab Day! To see more of Campbell's work pop over to www.campbellphotography.co.uk
