Today's real wedding is serious eye candy! Roisin & Andy live in the UK but came to Wicklow for their sunny celebration at Rathsallagh House. The couple were eager to keep the aesthetics of the day simple and natural, forgoing a formal colour scheme and tying in their florals and decor with the beautiful venue. The result, as you'll see from the gorgeous photos by Hannah McKernan, was a day that was stylish, elegant, and entirely swoon-worthy! Best of all, this bride and groom beamed all day long!
Roisin is from Middletown, Co. Armagh, and Andrew is English. The couple are based in Lancashire but chose beautiful County Wicklow for their wedding day.
How pretty is the lace effect on Roisin's wedding shoes?
Andrew & Roisin were together seven years when they got married, “We met at a mutual friend’s birthday in Liverpool. Andy is from Liverpool and I was teaching in Kent at the time and had made the trip to Liverpool.”
Andrew proposed to Roisin on the first night the couple were in their first house that they’d bought together, “Andy rushed home from work before me and had everything set up in the living room – music playing and candles lit,” the bride tells us. “When I heard the song I came running in as I had been telling him how much I loved it as it was newly released - it was Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud - and he was on one knee. And of course I said yes.”
We've seen lots of floral arches outside the church recently, but this one inside has such a sweet, vintage feel.
Gorgeous in grey - Roisin's bridesmaids look stunning in their grey gowns with satin bodices and tulle skirts. The bouquets have such a romantic feel, and I'm all about the red carpet-worthy hair and makeup on this trio!
Looks like this gang didn't stop smiling for the day!
The foliage crown, the little shoes - this gorgeous little one is giving us major flower girl style goals!
The couple got so lucky with the weather and were able to make the most of the gardens at Rathsallagh for their drinks reception.
Roisin's went all in on romance with her wedding day look, her lace gown is so elegant but modern, (and just wait 'til you see the back!), her upstyle, so glamorous, and her bouquet was the perfect blend of classic and contemporary.
This pair had just one ambition for their wedding day, “To have the most magical day filled with love, laughter, family, friends and amazing food.”
The couple wanted to tie the styling of their wedding with the venue, “We just tried to keep things as natural as possible with wooden plaques for the tables with flowers from Rathsallagh Gardens and teacups with candles. We liked the idea of a vintage theme – we didn’t want anything too modern as we knew it would clash with the style of Rathsallagh. There was no colour scheme as the bridesmaids were pretty neutral wearing grey dresses.”
Roisin tells us about how she and Andrew made their mark on the venue, “Instead of a guestbook we had a Polaroid camera and an empty photo album where guests took photos of themselves, stuck them in the book and left us a personalised message. Andy did a lot also – he decorated all the jam jars for the flowers in the centre pieces and wrote the tables names which were each a number that meant something significant to us. Andy’s dad also sourced and chopped the wood for the centre pieces.”
The eucalyptus, thistles and roses ran from the bouquets and on to the wedding cake - such a gorgeous combination.
Is it even a wedding if you're not betting on the speeches!
While everything went smoothly for Roisin and Andrew, the newlyweds have a few words of advice for other couples prepping for their big day, Whatever happens on the day let it be – don’t let any little details that go wrong annoy you or spoil the most magical day.”
The couple stole away with photographer Hannah McKernan for more gorgeous shots after dinner.
Thanks so much to Roisin and Andrew for sharing your wedding with us, and of course to Hannah McKernan for capturing it so beautifully.
