Today's real wedding in Atlanta draws inspiration from the 1920's.The photography by Brides and Dolls, oozes all the glitz and glam of an extravagant Gatsby party. Gold, silver and metallics are seen throughout the venue and dresses, with the groomsmens wearing top hats to pull the look together. Josie and Wesley thought of every little detail and Summer our Studio in Atlanta was the perfect choice for their big day. Let's take a look...
The beautiful couple met through mutual friends one summer and were inseparable from then on. Josie explains the moment..."We met through a mutual friend. He came home for the summer to have rotator cuff surgery on his shoulder, which he hurt pitching for Clemson. We were introduced at a bar in downtown Macon. We've spent almost every single day together since then."
The proposal was inevitable for the happy couple and the answer was always going to be yes for Josie. She explains how the proposal went..."He proposed at the beach in Florida early one morning. He was very nervous and almost lost his footing. He was so scared he was going to drop the box into the ocean. Neither of us are super gushy when it comes to expressing our feelings, so he was brief. He simply said "will you marry me?" He knew I would say yes but he was so nervous anyway! It was heart warming."
There was a few last minute alterations to Josie's wedding gown the day before the wedding. Thankfully it fit perfect for her. She recalls..."I was up at two in the morning taking in the bust area of my dress because I waited till the last minute to have it altered and my best friend and bridesmaid Loveann Lopera stayed up with me and then helped me try it on to make sure it fit the night before the wedding. Well pretty much the day of!" Josie's jewellery on the day not only finished off her look but also held sentimental value. Josie explains..."My grandmother gave me a small copper colored box that held a beautiful sapphire necklace that she tied with a bow using a scrap of her own wedding dress. It was extremely sentimental and sweet. My mother also gave me a necklace made of pearls and silver that I wore the day of the wedding. My first real pearls ever."
Josie's four bridesmaids wore full length elegant gowns in gold, silver and blush, with hair was beautifully groomed into 1920's up styles with diamante head bands. Such an opulent look!
Wesley and his groomsmen opted for formal attire with a classic vintage tuxedo and tails. Wesley finished the look off with a top hat and cane.
When choosing a venue there was no doubt when they came across the Summerour Studio. The couple explain what made it so perfect..." EVERYTHING! Dark wood floors, floor to ceiling windows with a breathtaking view of the city of Atlanta. Arched entryways, vines crawling up the walls and greenery, cafe lights across the courtyard, very European!! I fell in love with it from the first moment I laid eyes on it on Pinterest."
The couple went all out glitz and glam and were delighted of the feel and look of the day. Josie recalls..."The wedding had the most magical feel. Everywhere you looked were colors of gold and silver and beautiful metallics. It was dreamy and elegant and even my guests dressed so sharp for the occasion. The theme was 20s vintage and the venue couldn't have been more perfect! The were vines crawling up the arched entryways, candlelight, top hats and champagne."
The newlywed couple give some helpful advice for future bride and grooms..."Don't sweat the small stuff!! The details won't matter in the least on the actual wedding day. So many things will be going on that will be so much more meaningful than if the linens were the right color or if your cake was perfect. You won't ever get that day back so don't waste it!!" They spent the next few days travelling around the Philippines, where they stopped at Bohol, Pamalican, El Nido, and Panglao Island. Which sounds amazing, Josie mentioned that the 22 hours from Atlanta was not so much fun!
A big congrats to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all! A big thank you also goes to Bride & Dolls Photography for sharing their work with us. To see more from Bride & Dolls Photography visit www.bridesanddolls.com
