Having met husband David in Dublin and having lived there for 11 years, it was super important to Aisling to have their wedding close to her home in Cork. Excited to host all her friends and family where she grew up, Aisling and David planned a charming wedding celebration in the spectacular Sacred Heart Church, followed by a fun celebration in the same venue her parents tied the knot - The Garryvoe Hotel. Egle of White Cat Studio captured each moment and we're delighted to share it with you today.
Like many Irish couples Aisling and David met in Quinns bar in Dublin. There with a group of mutual friends, Aisling and David hit it off and after their night at Quinns began to date.
Love Aisling's One Fab Day tote, which she picked up at one of our Bridal Banter events!
Aisling describes how groom David proposed..."I love going to antique fairs and one day when I went with Dave’s sister Fiona, I fell in love with a ring. A little bird told Dave about this ring. Dave proposed during a photo-shoot he had put in place a few months after I saw it. He had his sister give him a voucher for a photo-shoot. We were house hunting at the time and Fiona (Dave’s sister) was told to say that the present was to capture nice photographs for the new house. At one stage during the photoshoot, we were standing back to back. The photographer then asked us to turn around and face each other and when I turned around, Dave was down on one knee with my dream ring."
Originally from Cork, it was important to Aisling that she and David marry near where she grew up, and in the church where she was baptised and attended as a child.
The stunning church was the Sacred Heart Church in Mogeely with epic stained glass windows and pale blue walls.
The wedding reception was then held at The Garryvoe Hotel, a place that means a lot to Aisling and her family. She explains..."We had our reception in the hotel that my parents got married in. It was a kind of a homecoming for me which made it so easy, extremely personal and super special. I went to a One Fab Day Bridal Banter evening back in May 2014 and I remember one piece of advice given was to try to make the wedding as personal as possible which is what we strived for since then."
As well as keeping things personal Aisling and David really wanted to make photography a big part of their day, as Aisling told us..."Photography was something that was close to our hearts and to bring this element into our wedding, we had a photography competition set up for our guests to hashtag using #wadewedswall on Instagram and Facebook. We got so many we had to choose 5 winners! Dave gave me an “Adventure Book” on the morning of our wedding which was a scrap book of photos of all of our adventures together and I gave my family framed photo cards of me with each family member. It was important for me to acknowledge how important the family was to me and this was so appreciated that it helped set the cheery happy tone."
Aisling and David also chose a photographer they were super comfortable with, Egle of White Cat Studio. Aisling remembers..."When we met with Egle of White Cat Studio we jumped at the opportunity to book her. We knew from the “Save the Date” photosession we had with her last year that her photos would be lovely and she did not disappoint! We are so happy with the results which capture so much of the special day and bring back such amazing memories."
A big congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your Garryvoe Hotel wedding with us all. A big thank you also goes to Egle of White Cat Studio for sharing her work with us. To see more from White Cat Studio visit www.whitecatweddings.ie
