In keeping with their festival proposal, our real wedding couple, Kevin and Ravi, added personality and unique touches to their glorious July wedding day at Martinstown House, Co. Kildare. Flower boys, lawn games, first-look photos and mix-and-match bridesmaids are just a snippet of what to look forward to. The beauty ofthis picturesque settings was captured by Claire Byrne Photography, so allow us to transport you back to this wondering wedding day.
It wouldn't be a festival-inspired wedding day without glamping pods! More than 15 years ago, at a music festival, Kevin met Ravi when he saw a beautiful woman offering "free hugs" at an Oasis tribute gig. Skip forward a few romantic chapters to Copenhagen where Kevin asked Ravi to be his forever love. "Will you agree to marry me?" was how he proposed while he was singing and strumming his guitar. They celebrated with a roller coaster ride at a city theme park and prosecco at a rooftop bar.
Here's a sneak peek into the morning preparations, featuring fresh pastel purple blooms and fresh tea from vintage china cups. Sounds like the most perfect start to the wedding day, right?
The bride's sister Anna, made hand-tied braids for the handfasting ceremony, whilst the mother of the bride prepared the beautiful wedding flowers herself. That is what you call all hands on deck!
While bride-to-be, Ravi, was getting ready for their first look in the gardens, the groom Kevin applied the finishing touches to his handsome navy and grey suit, completing his look with a paisley tie.
Our gorgeous bride selected a two-piece customised look that embodied her true personality. A delicate and intricate top with a full-length, silky smooth skirt by Sarah Foy Couture. "I found traditional wedding dresses too restrictive. I wanted something light and could use elements of it again," says Ravi.
Oh, we just adore a first-look moment! Before heading to the ceremony to tie the knot in front of all of their loved ones, the couple decided to spend a quiet and private moment together in the garden grounds.
Now this is one way to make an epic entrance! Ensuring their personality shone throughout, they arrived to the ceremony in style in a fire truck driven by the groom - a part of the day that stood out to be one of their favourites.
Hand in hand, they walked down the aisle together, showered in confetti from the flower boys. One of their favourite parts of the day was when Kevin's brother-in-law, Shane sang at the ceremony as well as having a friend act at celebrant. "Our friend Frank did the ceremony. We didn't know what he was going to say!" they say.
The grounds of Martinstown House, has the most wonderful ceremony space. Using tin from a neighbour's field, antique telegraph poles, a magnificent crystal chandelier and a little bit of creativity, the venue transformed an abandoned glasshouse that had been neglected, into Ireland's most exquisite and distinctive wedding spot!
During the drinks reception, guests enjoyed the beautiful woodland environment while nibbling on the delicious tapas board, which was a big hit with the crowd. In addition, Ravi and Kevin treated the guests to lawn games in the July sun while they snuck away to take some memorable wedding portraits.
The mix-and-match bridal party wore burnt orange hues and simple sage shades. With loose-flowing curls and beaming smiles, the ladies looked beautiful. The gentlemen on the otherhand sported cool-toned grey suit pants allowing their floral ties to pop.
The picture below is Kevin and Ravi's photo from their album, as they described it as being 'just married walking through the trees looking like they are together somewhere beautifully exotic'
The couple opted to host their wedding speeches outdoors during their cocktail hour on the lawn, perfect for a summer weddingsand and relaxed and laidback in style, a perfect fit got Kevin and Ravi's festival wedding theme. "We just wanted it to be relaxed and get to celebrate with family and friends. We also wanted a festival-type vibe to fit in with how we met," they say.
The newlyweds fell in love with Martinstown House for their wedding day, and we can totally see why! "The owner was so nice, understanding and attentive. Our original plans fell through. Martinstown House wasn't pushy and also responded to us in a personal way," explains Ravi.
They shared their first dance to Blossoms by The Keeper, and have this advice for future newlyweds. "Enjoy having all the people you love and who love you in one place celebrating with you." Their only regret was that they didn't get to dance more!
A very special thank you to Ravi and Kevin and also Claire Byrne Photography for allowing us to showcase this inspiring festival-themed wedding day on One Fab Day.
