We always have adoration for any couple who rock strong looks on their wedding day, and in today's real wedding, Dublin couple Sarah and Thomas let their mutually marvellous sense of style loose! (We're talking two dresses, a check three-piece and some serious accessory game!). This cool pair not only looked incredible for their Mount Druid wedding, but they set the tone for a fun and unique celebration that their friends and family could kick back and enjoy. The day was documented beautifully by Emma Russell Photography and we were gripped from the very first shot!
Sarah and Thomas tell us that they first met on a night out in the Wright Venue in Swords, “We played cat and mouse for a good while until Thomas asked me out,” says the bride. "That wasn’t before I gave him an ultimatum and it was the best decision of his life!”
The birdcage veil, the features, the oversized bouquet dotted with pampas grass - it's clear from the start that Sarah held nothing back with her beautiful wedding day look.
Thomas planned a super romantic proposal for Sarah, “It was a spur of the moment day, trip to Paris, we got the early flight over and a late flight home, Sarah had no idea!” explains the groom. “We went sightseeing, ate food and had a good amount of wine. The next stop was to get ice cream and see Notre Dame Cathedral. I got down on one knee, Sarah thought I was drunk and start pulling me back up. I persisted until she realised I was serious. She said yes and it was her best decision ever!”
It's all in the details - loving the teal buttons and gentlemanly tie clip paired with Thomas' suave check suit.
These two had such an emotional first look at the top of the ceremony chapel - Thomas was clearly bowled over by his bride.
A little mid-ceremony mishap always breaks the tension and eases the nerves!
The couple describe their fun celebration at Mount Druid, “Chilled, relaxed, and magical - it was more than we could of wished for! An amazing day with family and friends.”
Sarah and Thomas have a gorgeous son and daughter who both had a starring role in the day, “We have two amazing children (we’re biased!) Bobby is 6 and Willow is 3. They made the day so special, Bobby brought the rings up to his dad and Willow had so much fun getting dressed up with the bridal party.”
Sarah says she and Thomas knew from the get-go that they were looking for a unique wedding venue, “Both of us love to do something different, so we knew we wouldn't be going to a hotel. I came across Mount Druid online and knew this was where we’d be tying the knot - no viewings needed. Thomas (groomzilla) needed a bit more than a beautiful display of pictures online, so we set up a viewing and once he saw it, he loved it just as much as I did!”
These two loved making Mount Druid their home from home, “From the tin chapel decorated from different couples who got married there, to the yurts with the cosy log fires, it felt like the whole venue was just made for us.”
The entire day was filled with highlights for the bride and groom. “There isn’t any one thing that we can say made it so special for us, everything that was planned and everyone that came to share our day made it one the best days we have ever had.”
Sarah's bridesmaids followed her lead with statement contrasting floral dresses and playful headpieces.
The couple were treated to a fabulous mini-moon, "We were really lucky and well-loved, our bridesmaids gifted us a mini-moon! Three nights in Rome which was great to have after the wedding, it’s a beautiful city with plenty to do and see. Our honeymoon will be a week-long cruise.
I just love the silhouette of Sarah's gorgeous wedding dress, the double ruffled hemline is so playful and shows off those fabulous white lace boots!
Mount Druid's existing decor set the scene for the party vibes with festoon lights and bunting overhead.
To make the day more personal, the couple created a photo booth for their guests, “One photo was for them to take home and a second one was made and put in a book with a message for myself and Thomas to read, it's a great keepsake to have.”
How fabulous is Sarah's vintage-inspired reception look? What a stunner!
Music was another important detail for this pair, “We had saxophone player who everyone loved, he got them up dancing and it brought back memories for us of our first holiday together in Ibiza.”
These two have some sage advice to share with other couples, “Trust your gut and stay in tune with who you both are as a couple. The day is just as much the groom’s as it is the bride’s and enjoy every minute of it.” You know we love a couple with an equal attitude to wedding planning!
A sweet moment out before the madness!
