Flowers, Family and Fun: Sarah & James

This floral-filled wedding was all about celebrating with family!

Today's real wedding is the perfect blend of classic and eclectic beauty, all set in the coastal area of Dunmore East in Waterford. Sarah and James wanted to celebrate their 2019 wedding surrounded by family in Sarah's home county, choosing her local church for her ceremony and the gorgeous Faithlegg House Hotel for their reception. The floral festivities were all captured by Aspect Photography, and it's the perfect explosion of colour.

Sarah and James met in what has become a very familiar story for many young couples! "James stalked me on Facebook," Sarah admits to us. "We later met in person through a mutual friend at a Take That concert in Dublin in 2011 and the rest, as they say, is history."

Eventually, James plucked up the courage to ask Sarah to be his wife. The Dubliner decided that on a trip to Marbella, he would propose. So, while walking on the beach one day, he dropped to his knee and asked Sarah to marry him.

When it came to the wedding planning, the couple quickly decided on the location. "We live in Dublin but I wanted to get married in Waterford, where I am from," Sarah said. "I really wanted to get a good night's sleep the night before, and to start the day in my family home, and Faithlegg House is a wonderful place. We both wanted to ensure that all guests would feel comfortable and relaxed, to have lots of fun surrounded by our friends and family."

The couple wanted their wedding to feel pretty, floral and fun, and it's clear from the images that they managed just that. Sarah's wedding dress is a Claire Pettibone design from Myrtle Ivory, while James's suit was a DKNY suit purchased in Kildare Village. The theme could be seen clearly in the bridesmaids' dresses which were a mix of styles from Needle and Thread.

While the larger elements of the wedding are often what grabs attention first, Sarah and James held onto some of the seemingly smaller moments. "Getting ready in the morning with my besties and my family was so special," Sarah said. "James's little nieces performed an amazing contemporary dance and managed to make everybody laugh and cry happy tears. The Dordan Choir, of which my dad is a member, is something we will never forget."

Such a gorgeous array of blooms by Bizzy Lizzies Flowers!

But the special moments didn't end there. "We walked to the local pub after the ceremony while the choir sang us across the road," the couple said. "But one of our favourite parts were the speeches."

The pair enlisted family to help with their wedding planning, something they advise other couples do also. "My mother did so much to help us plan the day, this really meant we didn't stress much. I'd highly recommend involving friends and family to help, where possible, so you can enjoy the day. Also, invest in a photographer and videographer, as the day goes by so quickly."

Thanks so much to today's couple Sarah and James for sharing their special day with us. And to Aspect Photography for capturing the celebrations.
