Today's Christmas wedding at The K Club is sheer perfection, so if you're looking for Winter wedding inspiration that is timeless and oh-so-elegant, you've found it! Lorraine and Paul chose a Christmas wedding in the spot where they celebrated their engagement, and their magical black tie soirée strikes a perfect balance between chilled and luxurious. Lorraine and Paul are nurses so Christmas, while being a special time, is always busy for them both and they rarely get time off together, making their day extra special. Their wedding was captured beautifully in a mix of dreamy digital and film photos by Anna G Photography, who has kindly shared her imagery from the day with us, so let's take a closer look, shall we!?
Bride Lorraine hails from Cork and Groom Paul is from Dublin. We find out how this lovely pair met, "We met in DCU nursing college in 2008 but only first spoke at our end-of-year nursing ball in 2012. The rest is history!"
Christmas got a whole lot more magical for this pair, thanks to a very sweet proposal by Paul! "Every year our tradition is to see the Christmas lights on Grafton Street. On December 8th, which is our anniversary, we went to see the lights and when we came home, Paul had secretly arranged for his family to set up the Christmas tree, light the fire and have our puppy Harley waiting for us. Paul proposed there and then."
Lorraine's wedding dress is such a showstopper! It's a long-sleeved, A-line gown with simple embellishment from De Stafford Bridal, which she paired with a two tier, laced trimmed cathedral veil.
Lorraine's gals looked gorgeous in soft grey, one-shoulder tulle gowns from TH&TH. A fab choice for Winter bridesmaids!
The couple said 'I do' in the beautiful St Brigid's Church in Straffan, Co. Kildare. Adding an extra personal touch to their day, Lorraine tells us she co-designed their wedding invitations with her best friend/bridesmaid, "that was a really fun and special time. She also created our mass booklets, which were beautiful and personal".
The church was filled to the brim with pretty roses and twinkling candles, adding to the romantic Winter fairytale vibe.
In terms of wedding venue, The K Club was a clear front runner! Lorraine tells us, "We stayed in the K Club the night after we got engaged and it was out of this world. I knew the moment we stepped into the venue, nothing could ever top it and especially at Christmas".
This couple's dream for the big day was all about creating the right atmosphere. Describing the look and vibe for their day, Lorraine tells us they planned a wedding that was, "timeless, elegant, old school, warm, intimate and fun", and we think they nailed it!
When asked to choose a highlight from the wedding, Lorraine gives credit their wedding guests, as well as to her beloved late granny. "Having all of our family and friends together to share the day was amazing. It was an intimate wedding, and so everyone who was there meant something to us. The morning of the wedding, it snowed very lightly and anyone who knows me well knows I have always wanted snow (on my wedding day) so I took it a sign that my Granny was looking over us."
What a truly epic table plan! The Disney-lover in me adores this!
We love how the couple added Christmas trees with twinkling fairy lights to their reception room, adding an extra dose of festive magic. This is a Winter wedding decor idea we'll be pinning for sure!
Lorraine's biggest piece of advice for engaged couples is to; "Try not to sweat over the small things. I stressed about the details and everything turned out how it was supposed to. Try to have a few minutes with your husband and take it all in enjoy every moment and have fun!"
Lorraine and Paul enjoyed some well-deserved time off after the wedding, "We went on a mini moon to Budapest and spent Christmas at home for the first time in years, as we both are nurses it's rare to get the time off together. It was perfect."
