Escape to the Chateau for a Dream French Wedding

Inspiring ideas for a romantic, French-inspired celebration...

Today's stunning wedding shoot takes us to the heart of France for the ultimate Escape to the Chateau wedding fantasy. A brilliant team of wedding creatives led by Divine Day Photography put together a fairytale wedding in the French countryside - it's the ultimate in what any couple could dream of when thinking of a French wedding. So this will be one to bookmark if you're planning for next year, or thinking of a wedding in France. Time to start pinning!

When it comes to putting a wedding shoot together it's imperative to have a clear vision, a core concept that will excite all of the team and inspire couples. We wondered how these creatives came up with such a beautiful concept to unite the team around...  The starting point for planning this shoot was the colour. We knew that we wanted to incorporate shades of purple, from lilac to amethyst, but made sure to always include breaks and accent colours in order to avoid a fully monochromatic look. Once the colour palette was set, we began to think of the style of shoot we wanted to create. Because of our French heritage, we have always been immensely inspired by our country’s history and after seeing a piece of lilac Toile de Jouy fabric, we were set on a regal theme, with a fairytale twist.

If you're going to create a fairytale theme then you're going to need the perfect castle, which France has in abundance. The team chose Château Challain for its gorgeous setting and gardens as well as the scale and style of the house itself. It's quite literally the dream if you're searching for a fairytale wedding setting.

Oooooooh la la (I couldn't resist 🙂

The flowers supplied by Mister Brett Events at Château Challain were an integral part of this shoot. We opted to stick with a palette of purples, whether this was in the bride and bridesmaid bouquets or the table settings. Touches of blue were also added, as was white and foliage in a number of green shades, for example, the trailing ivy decorating the staircase.

A fairytale wedding needs a fairytale outdoor reception complete with an extravagantly luxe tablescape. The theory was simple, though this sort of look can only be delivered by experienced event creatives...  Metallic details, both yellow gold and silver, were key to break up the shades of purple and add luxury to the setup. We also made sure to have glass candelabras on the table and cut crystal chandeliers hanging from the bough of the tree above.

Our stationery by the fantastic De Winton Paper Co. combined both nature in the delicate floral border and the majesty of the venue, with a bespoke watercolour illustration of Château Challain.

Now this is what you call a showstopper of a wedding cake! This stunning four-tiered lilac cake, complete with gold detailing, edible blooms, hand piped garlands and an edible topper was the work of Dealicious Gateaux. An important element of wedding styling is considering the backdrop and setting of any special elements. In particular a wedding cake needs to be displayed to best effect - here combined with other sweet treats, floral decor in proportion makes for an impressive display.

Huge thanks to Divine Day Photography and the entire team (listed below) for sharing their phenomenal work with us all. What a treat! It's the perfect pick-me-up and injection of inspiration needed during these slow summer days of 2020. Can't wait to soon see fantastic weddings inspired by this gorgeousness!
