If you're a fan of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn (and let's face it who isn't), then you'll enjoy today's gorgeous real wedding: Liz and Kevin's entire day could be summed up in one word: elegance. From Liz's bespoke wedding gown by Patrick Casey, to the sumptuous decor at the Village at Lyons, every element of this wedding is beautiful. This is an inspirational wedding not just because it's so understated and stylish, most importantly, in every single one of Larry McMahon's lovely photographs this happy couple are smiling.
Liz and Kevin met on a night out in a Dublin night club. They fell in love and have been together ever since. Kevin popped the question on a sandy beach while on a holiday in Thailand.
Liz's beautiful wedding dress is a bespoke creation by Irish designer Patrick Casey. Very simple and elegant with subtle lace detailing, chic sheer sleeves and a stunning open back. Liz offset the dress with simple hair loosely waved and pops of colour in her emerald green earrings. I think I might be a little in love with Liz's style. She's just so elegant.
The style and atmosphere of the day was an equally beautiful affair. Liz, Kevin (and some helpful friends) put in lots of work to make sure the little details were just right and very "them" and as you'll see it paid off.
"We really just wanted it to be a relaxed fun day out with all our family and friends. In terms of the look, we wanted to keep it very natural. We were so lucky to have so many talented people to help us licking envelopes and tying ribbons in the wee hours the days/ nights before." Help from friends and family came in all forms, Liz's sister even gave her sister her own veil.
The ceremony was held at the glorious Newman University Church on St. Stephen's Green. As the building is beautifully decorated (if you've ever been in you'll know what I mean), huge ornamentation wasn't necessary for the wedding, so Liz and Kevin just added soft white flowers created by Liz's friend Gráinne.
Once wed Liz and Kevin were greeted outside be a sea of bubbles, instead of traditional confetti. Such a fun idea! For some more great confetti alternatives check out our 10 Fun and Unusual Confetti Alternatives.
Then it was off to The Village At Lyons (in Liz's uncles fab car) to continue the rest of their sophisticated glam day.
Venue wise it was an easy decision for Liz and Kevin. "We had always loved the Village at Lyons. When we got engaged we did look elsewhere but we ended up comparing everywhere to the Village at Lyons and none of them quite matched up for us. The staff were so fab both before and on the day. Nothing was too much trouble."
Liz's bridesmaids looked stunning in these print peplum dresses by New York based label Suno. Not your typical bridesmaid look and we love it (especially those pockets!)
Now the for the fun part...the food and decor! All DIY and all so well thought through.
Blooming crab apple trees in flower were bought in the dining room, best man David David designed the menus, table names and cake stand while Liz's aunt organised the pretty pink cake and macaron table.
We think we recognise the inspiration for this cake! We created a similar look for a pretty summer shoot over a year ago now, and it went down a storm. How lovely to see the inspiration coming to life in an Irish wedding.
To round of their wedding Liz and Kevin took a honeymoon trip the Galapagos islands in Ecuador and Peru, we hope you both had a ball and thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous day with us!
A big thank you Larry McMahon for sharing his wonderful photography with us, to see more of Larry's work head over to www.larrymcmahonphotography.com
